I install the Atlas Door Steps on all 4 doors on my 2018 Jeep JL.

Installed my SB Atlas steps today. Thanks to your video it helped me a lot. No problems with the OE bolts. came off smooth as butter with a 1/2" breaker bar. I just shimmed the doors. Thanks again.

Did you leave the doors on? Any issues with removing the factory bolts? How did the square brackets on the steps fit with the rounded corners of the hinge recess on the Jeep?

@@rkelmy Russ, 1st. I disconnected the door from the inside, 2nd I loosen the factory bolts while the door is attached to the jeep. 3rd I removed the door and placed the door on a table. Then I took off the factory bolts. The black square brackets fit perfectly on the rounded corner of the hinge. I had no issues installing the new black bolts included in the kit. I did forget to install the rubber gasket on the driver's side of the jeep. Something I need to do. I did install the rubber gasket on the passenger side. It all lines-up perfectly. No issues. @@Ultracon Did you use a 3/8" or 1/2"drive ratchet? Score the paint around the bolt or use any heat to help ?

Great video! you made it look easy! Were there any issues with the square corners of the bracket fitting into the rounded corners of the hinge recess on the Jeep? I've read a lot of post of people stripping the bolts. Your suggestion to gently hammer them in makes for good advice. Thanks.

Hi Russ, Thank you! I did my homework before I did the job. Disconnecting the door on the inside first then breaking loose the T-bolts while the door is still attached to the Jeep is the best thing I did. I had no problems. I did not do it that way on my last door. I loosen the T-bolts first then open the door to disconnect the door from the inside. (not in the video, too dark at night) That was a huge error on my part. The door misaligned. I had to loosen and tighten three times to alignment the door. By doing this some of the T-30mm bolts are a little stripped. (These are the black ones included in the kit) Thank you for your comment. I hope this helps.

Do you know what size the screws are? I want to buy stainless screws.

Hi Roger, I don't know the size. However, I had these steps on my Jeep for over three years and the screws are just like new. The bolts that are in the Smittybilt kit I believe are stainless steel with a black oxide on them. (black bolt) If you want the stainless steel bolt for the steel look. I suggest going to Ace Hardware store and try to match the bolt. Thanks for watching and for your question. Cheers, JC

doesnt it mess with the alignment to take off hinges when door is off? Most people but a wedge in while door is closed to make sure it dont move. Maybe its different on the new JL.

Taking the doors off does not mess with the alignment. Once you have the doors off. Lay the door flat and remove the screws but keep the hinges exactly where they are. Once you remove the door hinge screws that’s when the door will mess with the alignment. I do recommend first breaking loose the door bracket screws while the door is attached. I’m hoping this helps. I can't remove the bolts, they are so tied. Did you use something different to remove before to use the wrench?

I did not. It’s easier to just break the screws first while the door is attached to the jeep. Do this step last when all the electrical and door stop is detached from the jeep. Right before removing the door. I hope this helps. Thanks for your question.
