Thank you! I feel like an idiot now. I couldn’t figure out why it was so hard to hook the smoke detector onto the base. I went straight to that part of your video and see it’s because I didn’t have the spring loaded mechanism under the battery so it was in the way! OMG. I was ready to chuck this detector across the room. LOL. Thanks again for your clear easy to follow instructions.

I didn't realize the plugs and screws were sitting inside the battery compartment, so I ended up using the plugs and screws from the previous smoke detector of a different brand. Nevertheless, the measurements of the previous smoke detector were not the same as the Kidde, so this video was a lot of help!

The management company installed a new KIDDE smoke alarm over my bedroom door which is about 6ft. distance from stove in kitchen stove. The old alarm unit would go off the minute any time I heated up the skillet on stove. This new alarm hasn't gone off once in 2 mos. and more of a question is are there different KIDDE models that the front face of the unit has a thin face plate where the flashing light is sticks out away from the unit about an inch which is supported by small/thin plastic posts, beneath that plate within the circumference of the posts is a black circular object that extends about 1/2" from the body of the unit. The same model of alarm unit is right behind the one outside the doorway from bedroom and living room doorway. and the one in my bedroom has no extended center piece. It looks like the KIDDE alarm unit you installed on your ceiling. Is the alarm unit in my living room have a camera installed? because I have found small flat micro cameras that were mounted behind living room blinds on the windowpane.

Can u detail the troubleshooting of the product? It’s 3am here, my kiddie alarm was installed into my appt. With faulty batteries. It keeps sounding every 2.5hrs.. I need to know how to remove, fix and replace.

Try changing the batteries see if that works if not it could be the unit itself.

My alarm came with a plastic pin in the same bag as the anchors and screws. I believe it needs to snap into place on the mounting ring? As a lock to prevent the device from disconnection and falling to the floor. But it wasn't reviewed in your video? Btw the red spring loaded arm that extends out by the battery is not a battery removal tool, that is what the yellow strap is for. That arms holds the battery cover open as to show the user that the device needs a battery.

sorry found on the KIDDE fire safety channel the same looking fire alarm unit that i thought looked as if a camera was inside the center of the alarm. Guess I'm still feeling uneasy since i found installed micro cameras that neighbor tenant used to monitor when i left apartment to enter and steal data and ID info.

Since they weigh so little it isn't necessary to screw in to a stud. However if you do use a stud the plastic plugs are not necessary. Screw in directly.

Mine has red and yellow wires. do these need to be connected? I replaced my batteries and the detector itself and it's still randomly beeping. if the wires are not needed, that is the only left that is the issue. If they are not needed then please let me know.

In a bedroom it should be installed on the ceiling near the door. It can also be installed on the wall near the top of the door. If it’s on the wall, Don’t install it near the floor because it will not work. If its in a hallway, you should install it on the ceiling near the middle of the hallway. It can also be installed on the wall near the middle of the hallway

You don't have to drill the base plate on you can use heavy duty velcro coins or pads , I have two smoke alarms up using the heavy duty velcro coins & they have been up for months now :)

That flip piece isn't to help get the battery out. It is to prevent you form accidentally putting up a smoke detector without a battery.

You can install them almost anywhere you want. They are very sensitive for sure this one sometimes goes off just with my oven running and a tiny bit of smoke.
