Have you tried lump charcoal like mesquite? How long does the bag of charcoal last for in a cook day? Its been awhile since you posted this video how are you liking it?
@pioneersmokehouseschannel Жыл бұрын
I tried it a few times, oak lump. It was a bit inconsitent but it seemed to last longer. My thought was that because it burns hotter the fuel was able to last longer. If I recall a basket full of charcoal briquettes was about 8 hours. Unfortunately I left the smoker under a canvas that got destroyed in last winters snow storm and I think the controller got wet. Currently the smoker is not working and I am not sure if I am going to purchase new electronincs. I might just for the content. The size and the flavor is great.

Great video. Would love to see you do a comparison/discussion on the advantages of the different smokers you use. I’m using a master built electric, but I modified it to have charcoal and wood chips. I’m ready to go charcoal, but can’t decide between the 40” or the gravity. Leaning 40” for convenience, but just learning about it today. Thanks for sharing!

thank you, I love the 40 inch but my top recommended smoker is the 1050 gravity. both have great taste but the gravity series is just better because it is easy to use, fairly automatic and can cook for longer by refilling the hopper during long cooks. the 40inch has a larger capacity and is modification friendly.. you can cold smoke on a cold day by putting a pellet tray in the bottom and leaving the controls off or you can do as I did and add a modification to the back.. www.pioneersmokehouses.com/masterbuilt-gravity-series-grill-smoker-1050-review/

Thanks for the response. If we’re cooking the same thing side by side do you prefer the flavor from the Gravity? or is good quality the same? Aesthetically I prefer the 40”; however the single wall construction worries me.

@@justdigity2 if I used the same fuel mix I get the same flavor results.. the single wall is common and I don't think it was a problem but it is thicker than standard sheet metal.

Awesome!! I have the same smoker but have yet to use it. Question, do I need to wait till all the charcoal burns before I place the meat in the smoker? Thanks in advance!!
@pioneersmokehouseschannel3 жыл бұрын
my thoughts are that it needs to be burning good but are not required to be at a full temperature... sometimes I put a few match light charcoal briquettes at the start end of the basket, if you do so wait until those briquettes are glowing or you will taste lighter fluid in your food

Master build need to make this smoker in an electric smoke that uses wood chips only. No Charco.

I love the size of this unit and I have used cold smoke generators to do cheese. If you use 2 single electric burners in the bottom of this unit, you can put chips in one and connect the other to a PID (or similar). You can use it as an electric smoker and control the temperature. I might make a video. :)

@@pioneersmokehouseschannel That would be cool. My other master build went out so I’m ready to buy another one. I’ll wait to see when you do a video. No rush.

I’m having trouble, I have everything installed ready to do my burn in. I tried a little test run to see if the fan would go on and just immediately shuts down. No error 1 like someone mentioned earlier (actually did happen when I first started it but went away) just shuts off. Is there any chance that I have to have my charcoal going before it wants to turn the fan on,? I would hate to try it tomorrow with the charcoal burning and the same thing happen

I have not had the same problem. when I first plug in the wires I had 2 reversed and it errored. once I switched them it worked as expected. I always light the charcoal load it them turn it on and it starts blowing to heat up
