@Rockholm66 first i cut an peeled logs let em dry then i nailed them together in threes used scrap plywood and two by fours i scabbed them in three so after i had 90 of em all nailed together i stood em up then i used a winch and put around the whole building and sucked it tight the roof was the hardest to do.cause some math came in play then. i was gonna make it square but thought round be more fun

it should turn out rough, almost like jerky depending on how long you smoke it for. if you salt meat itll add weeks to its life. thats how they used to keep meat fresh before the icebox was invented and after that the refrigerator. ingenous if you think about it, salami can stay good at room temperature for months because of a specialized curing process
@TheWildNorth13 жыл бұрын
@sacrifice854 it depend on how many traps you set and how hard you work and how much land you cover.

Very nice. This is my dream of living in the woods and growing my own food. I'm not sure about hunting. It seems very hard to do. At least, you get to enjoy the fresh clean air.

This is a very good video. Do you mind making a video about how you built the smoke shack, and how it was built? That is one of the nicest smoke shacks I've seen. Keep up the great video's!

We smoke lots of venison which usually gets eaten before refrigeration is necessary, I was wondering how you keep as much meat as you get from a moose fresh until its consumed? In one of your videos you shot 2 moose in one day, How do you store what you don't smoke? In new York state where I live, you can legally take 2 buck whitetails and up to 5 to 7 does depending on if you have someone sign over tags , we find freezing and canning necessary.

This is a great video! Previously I knew only hot smoking of big chunks moose meat, but now I tried something like in this video (even though it didn't take several days). Cold smoked thin meat strips are very tasty!

There`s a spice from Club house it`s called Garlic plus it has a mixture of herbs with it ( dehyd.vegetables -garlic -red bell-peppers -corn meal- sugar-salt-yeast extract-dehyd.parsley-sunflower oil-citric acid- and if you try it once there is`nt any other spice in your world -Damn it`s good .it`s a great flavor for jerkying .after rinsing the salt brine more the better .

@LaoSoftware You could be looking at it the wrong way, One of the main reasons small tribes hunt, is because of the attraction of big game. So much food from more or less easy/fast way to get it.

Help me understand please? So does the meat wind up being cooked eventually? Or is it just dehydrated? How do you store it once it is done? How long will it last? I kill most of the meat I eat, but I still work a regular job, have a deep freeze, and everything. Trying to learn more because there is a good chance I will live off the beaten path someday. Great channel brother.

How do you use the smoked meat ? Do you eat it like jerky on the trail or do you add it to soups or stews? I think we need a video about using smoked moose meat :)

"Got a F**kin SH*tload of smoked meat". HAHA love it. Nice big smoker. An old fridge makes a great smoker. pull out all the plastic inside and cook the paint off and then drill new rack sheckles and use a small propane bbq for heat.

Well that answers my previous question about the smoke house. Ever draw any hungry bears in with that beacause I can almost taste it from here? Very nice, I'd love to build something like that.

I am not a hunter or trapper but I feel this will be a valuable skill if and when the SHTF that I would love to learn now. Also, for rabbits - which conibear would you suggest? Thanks!!

The Indian way? Are you not metis? Why not word it so you bring some pride in with the work you do. Do you call your mom or dad Indian? Just seems ignorant so be so politically incorrect. I personally don't call others natives "indians" besides that I do enjoy the videos.
