Mop and Glo works to seal everything instead of paint. Just lightly coat it all and let it dry.

Great idea! I have been using brown wax shoe polish, gives them a great color and shine but they do remain a bit tacky to the touch. I'll be using coffee grounds from now on, thanks.

when you put the coffee on them I noticed you dryed them outside? how long did you dry them for and can you dry them inside ? its winter where I am now. Good video thanks. Oh another fact: Antlers can get their brown look from when the deer or moose live generally in swampy areas.

Can let them dry inside or out. Doesn't matter

So I just let a duffus do a European mount on a freshly killed deer. He coated the entire antlers with dark, shiny furniture stain, totally changing the color of the antlers, and it looks totally unnatural, like plastic or fake antlers. Any tips for getting that stain off and returning the antlers to their original color and natural luster? Thanks.
@SmokeTrailsBBQ2 жыл бұрын
Solvent, scrubbing and maybe sanding as a last resort, then coffee or dirt to get the natural color back.

My antlers turned put a shade more brown than expected, how is this fixed?
@SmokeTrailsBBQ4 жыл бұрын
Try taking a coarse brush and scrubbing them down. that should lighten them. Or wash some of the coffee off.

Good video, however, DO NOT let your antlers soak in water and dry out in the sun. Any existing cracks will become much worse and the result is a much chalkier antler. I've been doing this a very long time. Leave in the natural coloration in the antler and you'll get a much more realistic result.

Rubbing the coffee is abrasive enough to clean the antlers.

I'm about to start on a giant 9 point whitetail that was given a gross score of 163... I felt like it was need to be told that kids nowadays if they know what an antler is they will use it to stick in somebody's eye or possibly make a bong out of it
