With Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Jackie Gleason) hot on his trail and eager to teach him some respect for the law, the Bandit joins forces with good ol' boy, Cledus (Jerry Reed) and runaway bride Carrie (Sally Field). Gear up for huge laughs, pedal-to-the-metal action, and some of the wildest car crashes ever filmed!

They rereleased Smokey & The Bandit in theaters back in 2017 for it's 40 year anniversary. Thank God I went to see it then because I had never seen it on the big screen before (I was only 3 when it first came out) and I probably never will again. It's STILL an absolutely entertaining car chase yarn. It's the kind of film Hollywood no longer makes, with the kind of actors Hollywood no long has. Those are REAL cars crashing on screen with REAL drivers behind the wheel. Who would of thought that a film like Smokey & The Bandit would be missed in 2020? I only wish I had see a double feature that day in 2017 with the second film being Hooper! God, I miss Burt Reynolds!

Thinking on it Snowman never did buy a new rig? Jerry Reed (who had a CDL), kept that GMC for the rest of his life! He used it as his tour rig (hauling his stage stuff). Early last winter I rolled up on a covered wagon, looked at the doors and it had a pic of a black T/A with a dunn colored cowboy hat on the roof on them! As I come up alongside I noticed a painting of a bunch of Indians attacking a stage-coach! When I get to the cap (which was a 19 Peterbuilt) painted rootbeer brown (with stripes) and carrying old GMC badges! someone was definitely a movie fan!

We were SO spoiled for choice in '78... When was the last time two classic movies like Smokey and Star Wars were in the cinema at the same time like '78? I remember hiding in the stairwells of the theatre after Star Wars had finished because my friends and I were too young and the ushers wouldn't let us past the door to see Smokey 😂

900 miles to Texarkana, 900 miles back. 1800 miles. 28 hours. Let's be generous and say an hour from talking to Big Enos and Little Enos to get the car, get Snowman, get on the road, and an hour in Texarkana for a whole team of people to load the truck. That's 26 hours left. 1974 Kenworth W900A had a fuel capacity of 300 gallons (150 r and l side), and a fuel efficiency around 6.6 mpg, so they can do it on one tank of gas with a bit to spare. They're going to have average about 70 mph there and back.
