@@duncann5184 it's a swedish or scandinavian dish. grav meaning burried and lax meaning salmon. You can search it up but it's basically cured by being burried and press weighted. You have to try it because it's amazing.

Rob, You remind me of my Dad, when we (my brothers and sister's) were in still school, I think I was in the 8th grade, we deconstructed "2" 1930's cabins at Lake Tahoe and salvaged the lumber, windows, the wood used as decorative wall covering, the cabinets, and whatever items we might need. We hauled it away to our ranch and built a barn. Those were some of my best memories, it was a hot summer, but by fall we had one awesome barn and chicken coop. The windows were those old wood windows hand made by true craftsmen, the kind where the glass was held in place by putty. That barn was my favorite place, I spent everyday rain or shine out there. We filled it with hay/alfalfa, there were stalls for our horses, it was wonderful. I miss my Dad. Thanks for sharing your video's, and your family memories, they become part of our memories, God Bless you and Sarah and the girls.

I ain't going to lie, every time I watch your videos. I start longing to go back to Florida but to the time when I was a lil boy fishing off the banks of Lake Toho long before they built up the roads back when it was just a two lane road from Neptune Rd, all the way to Clyde street fishing for that big bass or using a cane pole to catch Bream. Then getting up at midnight with my uncle and his friends to go fishing for milkies and blues off of Old Tampa Highway at the Shingle Creek bridge using chicken gizzards and hearts and back when I was about 7-10 yrs old, fishing off the Lake Wade culvert pipe where I caught my first soft shelled turtle on a Zebco 404 using canned biscuit dough and worms. Wow!? Hard to believe 40 years have passed by.. I turn 50 on July 8th.. Thank you for your content..

Sarah you are Glowing in todays video I must say. Rob that smoker is top notch from rags to riches MacGyver craftsmanship for real. When you were teaching the fella how to catch the fish and he hit one and missed and reacted with a "Bastard!" i literally Laughed out loud because all fishermen know that moment. Sarah is in straight Martha Stewart mode at the landfill / scrapyard, she see's things that to a normal eye would never see & I love that about her. Millers landing is going to be like "Just leave that smoker right there" when you guys head out because it will definitely be a work of art to tell the next visitors / campers. Overall I am truly enjoying every minute of this adventure that you and the family & crew are sharing with us. Thank you all for the hard work and dedication it takes to put up quality vids. God Bless / Continued Success and Be Well as always Arrington's & Team DMFD! You're all doing Great!🐟🙏🤝👊

Another Great Video! Rob, your creativity, compassion, passion, generosity, resourcefulness & industry are inspiring! I can't possibly, adequately express how very much I admire you as a man, a father & husband, a sportsman & a Christian, but I am compelled to try. You have been a key inspiration in trying to restore my health, so I can get back to fishing & hunting. As I've shared before, since the beginning of January I have shed 71 Lbs. I have 121 lbs. to go to be at my "fighting weight" from when I was 25 (I'm almost 61). Thanks to you & your lovely family, for sharing your adventures with all of us. May God Bless You & Yours. Fresh smoked salmon is the best Rob. Being Norwegian and from a fishing family you have to have a smoker. My family in Norway has fished for a living for generations. My family there has a smoker right in the backyard that I believe was built by my great great grandfather that they still use today. Every Christmas time they would ship us smoked fish to my mother for the holiday meals. For me and my brothers it was like getting candy lol. They would send huge sides of smoked salmon and other smoked fish and meats. My mother would have to hide it from me and my brothers lol. Great video Rob as always. A very simple smoker but hey it works. And that's all that matters. Keep them great videos coming brother. Enjoy your trip safe travels and stay safe. And oh yeah that midnight sun yeah it takes a bit to get use to lol. Stay safe and God bless brother.

That looks like a fun little stream. I hear tell Bristol bay has a record return of sockeye. Looks like salmon everywhere. You could almost walk across them. The reason you hook in the head may be the salmon are attracted to the bare hook. Spoon fishing I would think could be as effective as snagging and a little more sporting. I’ve caught salmon in rivers on coastal rivers in Wa state with nothing but a silver hook. What a great place your fishing at . Reminds me of the action in Western Wa I used to experience in the 60s and 70s in my youth. Only the snag was always illegal.
