*Smoky Takeoff* Antonov An-12 Up-Close Departure at Manchester Airport- March 24th 2016

At 21:50 on Wednesday night this Antonov An-12 arrived at Manchester Airport from Maastricht registered UR-CEZ and operating under Cavok Air.
The departure of the An-12 was scheduled for 17:00 on Thursday 24th . Wanting to take the opportunity to film this Ukrainian aircraft we decided to catch his takeoff. After an extended bike ride due to the switch in runways to 23L we arrived at the spotting mound at South Side. On schedule the An-12 taxied and lined up on 23L before spooling up, giving off a great sound from its 4 turboprop engines. The most magnificent sight from this An-12 was the amount of smoke pouring out of the engines with a thick contrail following the aircraft. It departed back to Maastricht after around 20 hours at Manchester.

+Ce Ce Old engines are less efficient as newer ones so seem smokier than normal. this aircraft was carrying cargo. Thanks for watching! :-)
