Man, those look absolutely AMAZING!! Can't say I've ever had soft shell crab but not sure I'd want to here being that I'm as far as one can possibly be from an ocean, LOL!! Definitely something to try though when I go back to the coast! And gonna have to try breading with just water next time. Never woulda thunk that would be the way to go. Now pass that shrimp po boy on over here!
@SmokyRibsBBQ11 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jason! Yeah, if you can't get the crabs live, then I doubt they would be anywhere close in flavor as fresh, but be sure to try them when you make it to the coast! I was actually very surprised with the water technique, and if it had not worked out like it did, then this video would still be on hold, lol ;) Thanks again brother!

Great video Rus! That intro was top notch buddy. Can't believe you found soft shell crab this time of year. Lucky dog!!!! I'd better hit the hay before Karen gets mad at me for frying up some seafood this late! LOL
@SmokyRibsBBQ11 жыл бұрын
Thanks Troy! I've been wanting soft shell crabs for over a month now, and I called the seafood market that I normally shop at, and he told me no luck, so I called the one right down the road that has a bunch of A holes working there, and low and behold if they didn't have these little guys, lol! So I took a quick trip down there, and nabbed them before they were gone. Thanks again brother, and don't make Karen mad ;)

I think I've stumbled across the most wonderful group of Southern/country Americans. I see you and T-roy and everyone else making these wonderful BBQ, comfort and good old fashioned American hearty food. I love cooking and share an enthusiasm for the art, I have a keen interest in European cuisine (being from the UK) and its amazing to see how much your ancestors through each individual state has amalgamated or even unified their techniques and traditions into making some of the most mouth watering delicious and often beautifully simple recipes like this absolute classic you've presented us with. I would wholeheartedly welcome such fantastic and creative dishes in my fair kingdom with open arms and its only a matter of time before dishes like yours make it over the pond. Subbed.

The cold water method is so that the flour sticks and doesn't flake off! A better way is to make a seasoned cold batter i put ice cubes in as well; keep it refrigerated until use. Water & garlic salt onion powder etc... mix while cool keep cold until use that's no secret... This is used to fry chicken whatever you can put flour on my .02!
