That's a micro HDMI connector. The cable has full HDMI on the other end. EDIT : WRONG ! Faulty memory, it's a micro AV cable, composite RCA audio and video ! It's likely it can't accept a SD card of more than 2Gb. (Old standard maximum) The CCD is definitely static sensitive.
@igotes
@igotes Жыл бұрын
If you're talking about the "USB-like" connector, it certainly isn't micro HDMI. I just went and found my Raspberry Pi Zero just to make sure I'm not talking shit. That connector was quite common on digital cameras from that era, it has composite video, audio and USB (maybe RS232), on the cameras I've owned, anyway.

Well the egg is on my face somewhat. RPi Zero has Mini HDMI. However, my comment stands, that is not an HDMI connector.

You're totally right. It's charging up a capacitor to prepare the flash for use. That's a decent proper sensor for a $50 camera. The thing a lot of people don't often take in to consideration with small sensors is the ability to capture enough light. That sensor was large enough to capture a good amount of light. Bravo Mi Cam. Good find smoorez

Out of context but just so you know. One quick tip for when you find rare items: If you only bring that exact item and ask for the price, it is going to be higher. Most of the time they don't know the true value, and think that because you picked it, it is something worth a higher price. Instead, pick two items, including the one you want, item 1, and the other one you aren't really interested in, item 2. Say that you are interested in item 2, emphasize it as much as you can, and then just say: and maybe item 1 as well. It always works, I once found a GameBoy, got it for 20$.

I once bought a digital camera at a thrift store for $1 USD. It was an Olympus Camedia C-4000 Zoom. The funny thing is that it was originally $7 USD, but the employee thought that the seven was a one so he sold it to me for $1 USD.

Had a Vivitar camcorder of this design back in 2010. We were going on our first out-of-country family trip, but as I was on a lower income at the time, I wanted a camcorder that was cheap but somewhat decent. Can't remember how much exactly, but it was within my budget. It served us well, and looking through the photos and videos I took with it years later, they held up reasonably well in quality. Better than some lower end pieces out today. Felt like decent quality too, though I don't quite feel that confident now after having it so long.

I like to say VIVITAR like some kids' cartoon villian, like Doctor Claw. I had a Pentax digital camera in the early 2000s, thought it was decent, proper camera brand and all. A mate of mine had the exact same thing with Vivitar branding. Probably cost half the price too.
@SianaGearz
@SianaGearz Жыл бұрын
@@igotes It's not gonna be the same thing, Pentax made all their cameras themselves and the rebrands are exceptionally rare and come from engineering partnerships, like when they were developing DSLRs with Samsung for a little while. I have a waterproof Pentax W10 and i love it. It had to have a minor repair done and i've seen the innards, the engineering on there is insane.

@WolfgangMahringer Жыл бұрын
I would say there is nothing wrong with the SD card slot! The camera's firmware does probably only support SD, not SD-HC, so you are limited to maximum size of 2GB SD cards. The physical slot and the electrical interface of SDHC is the same as standard SD, but there are little but important differences in the communication protocol.

The reason some shots are out of focus is because you were too close to things, and when you moved away from something and zoomed in, the reason why it looked sharper is because the object was now in the focusing range of the camera, and you can zoom in to see it closer, like if you were right next to it. I use this technique on my phone all the time. If it cant focus on something really close to the camera, move away a bit so that its just in focus, and then zoom in. It is important to remember that every camera has a limited focusing range, whether its a welcome or an iPhone. In your camera tests, you come really close to things, like the xenomorph and the frogs and the brick wall. When testing a device that has focus and you are taking close-up photos, take a moment to find out the closest distance that it can properly focus on. Or, if you arent taking a close-up photo, then this step isnt necessary. I would consider every photo except the far away air con to be a close-up, because you wont believe how small the focusing range is on some devices. I have an iPhone and to take a pic of a lollypop I need to move it so far from the phone that the lollypop takes up like 5% of the photo before its in focus, and then zoom in so it takes up more like 70%. Any closer and it will be blurry. Edit: since this camera is fixed focus, you werent outside the focusing range, but rather outside the specific point where the focus is set.

This is a clone of a Sanyo Xacti camera. I had one, it was waterproof, had the same shape, same button layout (even down to the 2 oddly positioned buttons beneath the flip out screen with nothing around them), battery is in the same place with a similar lid design, even the silver accent on the hinge is the same. At the time, the vertical design was quite unique to the Xacti cameras, so I don't think it's a coincidence that this looks so similar. Some of the little details appear to be slightly different from the model I had, it might be based on a different model, but it's very close.

Not a bad camera. I have the Aiptek DV4500 camera and I used it for all my old youtube vids. Recording format was .ASF container mpeg 4 video 160x120(30fps), 352x288(30fps) & 640x480(10fps) 8khz mono audio. Audio now has a slight humming during video recording. It could take up to a 512mb SD card but I bought a 1gig card which worked in it. Haven't tried larger cards. The reason for the error is probably due to the card you are using being too large in storage size.

The styling of this thing is made to be reminiscent of Sanyo Xacti. So no surprises that it's attractive looking. Those are actually waterproof, and they use this same similar sort of sealing strategy for the waterproofing, but of course Sanyo is a PRECISION company, so the seal actually works. Bet these guys forgot something or just the general warpage doesn't do it major favours.
