Man, so many things I'm getting the urge to comment about! For getting back into model railroading, I've been doing a similar thing recently, and I would highly recommend making a small station yard. You can limit yourself to a fairly small layout on a fairly small diorama with a couple sidings and a main line at a station, because you are building around a station you have plenty of excuses to do detailing, and you can do shunting puzzles on the sidings, which is a load of fun. If you want to do loop running, you can just slot the diorama in as the strait part of an oval and build the rest of the track on the floor, like Sam's Train's has for the track he does all his revies on, and if you decide you want to do a really big layout later on you can just splice your first station in on one side of the baseboard. I've purchased a couple buildings and dug some switches and things out of our old box of HO/OO tracks, and am planning on making a little station with a two track mainline, a passing loop, and a couple of dead end sidings, probably on a baseboard somewhere on the order of 60cmx150cm, and I'll try my hand at painting a town backdrop to give it a little more depth. I'm hoping to catch a good deal on one of the Hornby Pecketts, those little 0-4-0s are some of the best shunters on the market, but as a college student, I couldn't justify spending more than $100 on one, and they run for half again to twice that. In the meantime, I have my old Bachman Thomas stuff from when I was little, plus some cheap used wagons I ordered off Rocket Railways with my station and signal box. I'd love to see a video on it if it goes well, though you might need to do some second channel shenanigans, as that's even further from your normal audience than planet coaster.
@MattLowne Жыл бұрын
Heya, what a big and thoughtful comment! I definitely want to build an N-guage shunting layout, just so I can get some modelling practice in 😃 I'm planning on having some major home interior revamps soon, so will assess my available spaces after this and plan what to do accordingly
@bow-tiedengineer4453 Жыл бұрын
As someone who has done same N gauge stuff, unless you plan to do a full layout in N, I'd practice on a OO/HO diorama, or the new TTL if you plan on that being your primary scale. Me and my dad did an N scale layout, and it's a bit of a pain. N is fiddley, and harder to work with than the other scales. Also, OO has the benefit of being incredibly common, with lots of used scenery and rolling stock on the market. If you just want to practice to get your skills up, and think you might end up switching scales anyway, my recommendation would be to get some used OO supplies from Rocket Railways. You can get a full circuit with a couple switches for really cheep, they usually have some cheap rolling stock, and they have these really cheap mystery boxes of slightly damaged scenery items that you can experiment with. Get some cheap grass flocking and you could probably get enough materials for a full shunting yard diorama, with a cheap loco and a few wagons, for less than 200. A great low risk way to try out the hobby without dumping a ton of money into a scale you don't know if you'll stick with. N might end up being your long term scale, and if you decide that's what you need to do to fit into the space you have, then yeah, start as you mean to go on, that way you will have rolling stock and switches you can use for your final layout, but if you haven't settled on a scale yet, OO is by far the cheapest and lowest risk scale to start out with. Although, even if you do go with N, you'd probably do well to browse Rocket Railways. I looked at their selection and they actually have a decent bit of N gauge stuff, although it's a smaller selection, and the rolling stock is more expensive than OO stuff. Despite the fact that I live the the US, buying from them was a steal even with international shipping, but you wouldn't have to worry about that, and you could even go to their physical location. I've heard they have a bit more variety in person, not all of their stock is listed on the website.

As someone who doesn't play planet coaster, I might be able to give some explanation. For me, when I see someone playing a cool game, I will frequently get inspired to try it out myself. For example, I recently picked up satisfactory after binging a bunch of Satisfactory content. For some games, however, I will get inspired, and then conclude that it just isn't worth it. The main game I will watch in this way is cities skylines, and as a fellow orange pilled individual you might have some idea why. I used to play it quite a bit, but I got more and more frustrated with it over the years, to the point that I've just quit bothering. Planet coaster is similar to me, but more so. I can enjoy watching a skilled player do cool things in time-lapse form, but it's obvious to me that, in real time, I wouldn't enjoy the game enough to stand playing for long enough to get good enough to feel any sense of accomplishment. For this series in particular, I started watching because I was bored and the episode with the train caught my eye so I watched the series. Then your rambling about cycling kept me watching for enough episodes that I got invested, because you are pretty great at rambling in an interesting fashion, and now that I'm invested, I'm in for the long haul on this park.

The reason I haven’t tried planet coaster is the same reason I follow modeling channels but don’t make models. I like watching people who love doing something and are good at it do that thing. And I like following the head cannon and whatnot. I’m not really into amusement parks, especially coasters, but you’re good at this and I like the little model. 😊 keep it up!

I LOVE my air fryer, the main difference from an oven is it is essentially a convection oven on steroids, and smaller in size so the heat can flow a lot better and more evenly, allowing faster more even cooking. Also no waiting for pre-heating! I tend to cook as much as I can in the air fryer rather then the oven, I really only save the oven for larger things, or things that are wet / messy in nature.
@MattLowne Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'm definitely gonna get one I think lol. I'm gonna have some work done to my kitchen, which is going to free up a lot of space for an Air fryer purchase

Fav Lego Set: Probably the Lego Crystal Sweeper from the Power Miners series. That or the board game sets, idk. As for model trains, I'm a big modeler here in America, do HO/OO scale/gauge with my club and will be buying a house here soon upon which I will start my own layout in! If you do start a layout yourself, 1. please please please do some videos on it, would love to see what you end up doing and what techniques you use! and 2. I do recommend HO/OO just cause of how many options there are; you can do a 'shelf' layout, thats just a small yard or station that trains can move in and out of. You dont need to have a massive room full of track when a half meter by two meter switching layout does the job just as well!

I am at the end ish of the video and I'm not sure why but this is the part I chose to comment on, across the entire 34 minute video lmao. Dawg, George forman grills were huge in the 90's. I remember everyone got one for Christmas or whatever throughout the years. But no one used it outside of camping once or twice before switching to the tried and true propane grill. As for air fryers they are much just an oven replacement for me. Much quicker as it is just a mini convection oven and much more energy efficient. Mine is big enough to hold whatever meal I am cooking and does it in more than half the time a full sized oven would (not including the ungodly warm up time) Of course I still use the full sized oven for baking and what not. Edit: Model railway stuff would be dope if you ever wish to build and share!

Planet coaster does have a heartline built into the coaster builder. It is the banking offset. When the banking offset is increased, when the track is banked the track will rotate around a center point above the track, the heart line. Unfortunately many people don't know about it because the default banking offset is 0. Todays coasters use the heartline less, like wing coasters since the riders heart line will be on either side of the track and both left and right have different feels because of this. I think what you are mistakenly looking for as a "heartline" in the builder is from No Limits coaster builder that has a continuous roll feature that allows the track to roll. Planet Coaster track builder is alway relative to "level" where smoothing track removes banking and curves in an effort to bring the track back to its origin.

Favourite Lego set? For me it's the Disney Train - as someone who loves the WDW railroad (yes I know it's based off _C. K. Holliday_ and the *Disneyland* RR but WDW is the one I went to) and just really appreciates the detail in that set. I'm a train collector first and foremost and honestly even with trains like Emerald Night and the Horizon Express I still think the Disney one is the best looking train they've ever done.

KSP 2 content will completely replace KSP 1 I think, unless KSP 2 sucks of course lol. The KSP 2 solar system will be identical to KSP 1's initially so there aren't many reasons to continue making content for KSP 1.

Perhaps if you do some SEO to grab some of the roller coaster/theme park enthusiasts on here you will get more viewers for this content. Perhaps a collaboration would help. There are also architectural design people who might like this content. There are definitely plenty of people who would enjoy it, youtube is just keeping you in a single SEO box.

Proudly one of three people who wants this, Matt. Keep it up!!! EDIT: Alright so I know you meant it as a joke at the expense of American measurement, but you accidentally picked a gun that is just under a meter long, so 4 meters is about 4 AR-15s. I had to look that up because I was curious. For your actual conversion, a meter is 3 inches longer than a yard thereabouts, so about 4 and a third yards or 13 feet EDIT: Ah, so that's why there were all those favorite Lego set comments... Uhhhhhhhh... Y'know, my entire childhood was dominated by Bionicles, and I think of those I like the Rakshi the most.
