I like to use extra dark green leaves. Wash them , cut them in strips. Cook in a separate boiler with a little cooking oil until tender. After the white cabbage is done, drain the liquid off green cabbage strips and add to white cabbage. This makes the presentation better and it doesn't affect the taste, just the appearance! Love your dish 😍

Croix de Lorraine 1935 Hello, I love a boiled dinner & I always put cabbage, potatoes, carrots & turnip (Rutabaga) and I am not one to eat a lot of salted ham...so I use the little Louis Rich Turkey Hams....they are great! The day after you have your boiled dinner get a big frying pan & put a couple of teaspoons of butter in & cut up all the veggies & turkey hame & cook til browned lightly or all heated through & I always eat this with vinegar on it! YUM❣️ some people also use canned beets & the juice to color the "BOILED DINNER HASH" if you never tried it you should it is very good! 😊😊😊

Croix de Lorraine 1935 You are very welcome! If you like fresh green beans my Mom showed me a great way to cook them....I always buy a big bunch...I cut off the ends & then put them in a microwave safe cooking pan (glass) you can put a couple layers on top of each other. Then you drizzle olive oil over the top ( I like mine with a little extra 😋) then you shake dry minced garlic over the top...depending on how much you like. Then microwave 6-8 mins depending on how much you are cooking & how well you like them cooked. They are so good, I even eat them the next day cold out of the fridge because they taste like marinated green beans....😉😉 I live in NH so this is the time we like to cook those boiled dinners & baked beans ......I am going to cook some country style pork ribs, I make my own sauce & cook them in the oven at a lower temp & cook them for hours....the meat falls apart! I am making myself hungry...lol enjoy! 😁
