Update on Smoulder. I've bought a bottle of it (10ml only to test it as I was almost skint anyway) and love it so much. Please, please make more fragrances with ATH! You both have talent. ATH is great with the chemistry and making the scent itself and you're good at creating a "mood board" or an idea of what the scent should smell like. One of the best fragrances I own and the price is good, I blind bought it to show my support for the creators Chris and Aaron but its a safe blind buy anyway especially if you enjoy the note composition.

It was the 1st September and I logged into the Aaron Terence Hughes website at just after 8am as I wanted to place an order for a 10ml bottle of the brand new fragrance from FM, "Smoulder" then at 14:22 I received an email telling me that my order had been despatched. My excitement and my expectations for receiving this fragrance grew as I'd been following it's development on this channel. As I waited in anticipation to receive my bottle, I had no idea whether I'd enjoy it or not, smell is subjective, but my nose was ready. It was Friday 3rd September and I'd finished work to be notified that my parcel had been received. With the box discarded i noticed that this is beautifully packaged for a 10ml bottle. Every detail has been achieved here with the presentation to customers. Here goes.. I sprayed "Smoulder" the first thing that hit me was that this is no couch potato! Wow the projection from this was just so good. Safe to say I haven't been disappointed. The blast I get from the opening is absolutely first class, lemon & Neroli.. Then as it dries down I really enjoy the tobacco notes, the incense and the sandalwood. I have to congratulate the way this fragrance has been blended. Just beautiful, and packs a punch which I enjoy. Smell as always is so subjective, but this is a winner with me. I just wish that I could have purchased a bigger bottle. But I'll have to conserve what I have. Well done FM and Aaron on producing something unique and spectacular, it certainly wows the very core of my senses.

Just received mine! Initial thoughts are that it has the same leather note as the older ATH perfume ‘Deviant’ and is like Aaron has put all his growth as a perfumer into this new frag. I’ll be giving it a full wearing on date night tonight!

Performance update - Sprayed at 12:30pm, and heavily projected until 7-8pm, and still very prominent on the skin at midnight. A beast mode frag. I also got two compliments at work (previously only got a compliment on two frags over the last six months - LIDGE and Vanille Fatale). Silage is way above average, and projection and longevity is off the scale. Adore this frag.

Just arrived, ATH collaboration with Fragmental, Smoulder. Literally arrived five minutes ago, initial thoughts, as you spray it you think, mmmmm, this could be an Amouage or a Roja scent. It makes a statement in the first inhale, and feels opulent. I don’t have a trained nose but I get the initial blast of lemon and tobacco, I like it, a lot! Not sure what the longevity or dry down will be like, but good first impressions…

So, I just received my 10ml, and all I can say is…Wow. It’s honestly not what I was expecting. From the name I suppose I was anticipating a really smoky and ashy type fragrance. Instead I get a sort of Middle Eastern vibe. The top/opening is quite earthy to my nose and honestly reminds me of a Chanel fragrance (Pour Monseiur mainly, and maybe a little Egoiste). It’s a really nice opening but honestly not the type I usually spring for. The dry down of this though? Wow, it is phenomenal . There is a strong wood note of sandlewood that renders this fairly masculine to my nose. But it’s a really high quality sandlewood that has a wonderful depth and adds a rich sweetness. I find the sweetness of this to be absolutely perfect. It could easily be too dry and heavy but when you get wofts, you get the sandlewood with a lovely touch of sweetness. The tobacco note in this is extremely high quality as well. It’s a smooth and rich tobacco note without being too dry or bitter. I only sprayed this about thirty minutes ago so will update later in regards to performance, but I am honestly blown away by this. I know you were going for a French perfumery vibe off of this, but this honestly just smacks of a very high quality Chanel fragrance to me. Although yes, I wouldn’t say this would be out of place from a Guerlain purchase either. I will be totally honest and say I haven’t tried any of Aaron’s fragrances before but after this? My respect and admiration for him has risen even more. This is top top quality juice that absolutely holds its own against the very best in the perfume industry My only issue? I only ordered the 10ml, which was smart, but really wishing I’d gone for the 50ml now haha. I may have to pull the trigger on a 50ml before it’s gone… Honestly, just sublime

I like watching Aaron Terrence Hughes youtube videos. This may be me looking to much into reactions but he didnt seem like he actually enjoyed that fragrance. He wasnt moving his fingers as he does when he smells something delightful. He stayed still. What this tells me is he doesnt even like it. I'll pass until I can smell before I buy. But more on the positive note keep on doing great work and I truly hope that Smoulder is a great scent.
