Probably because they prefer an epic, full effort brawl rather than a quick kill, plus their whole philosophy is survival of the strongest, so it's a measure of strength

Nocturne's demon fusion system is probably the most flexible I've ever used in all of the SMT games. I give the Mitamas class 8 skills like Debilitate and Victory Cry among others, and its amazing being able to add them onto almost any demon.

At this point in the game two demons in particular are quite useful: Shiisaa (Holy family) & Minakata (Kishin family). The former Drains Elec, while the latter Repels it, bringing those two demons to this fight will often make this boss fight pitifully easy, as Thor's only real means of dealing damage at that point will be his physical attacks. And IIRC High Pixie resists Elec damage, so you can use her as a healer since she will also do well at enduring Thor's Mazio/Zionga/Ziodyne skills. The way I go into this fight is to give Minakata debuff duty (though I also give him Counter & Focus since he's at his best using physical attacks, and if Thor attacks Minakata there's always a chance of Minakata hitting Thor in retaliation), so I make sure Minakata has all 3 debuffing skills unless I have something with Fog Breath (but do *not* use Inugami, Ame-no-Uzume, or anything else with a weakness to Elec as they will essentially just *help* Thor defeat you or they will just die outright if Thor hits them with Ziodyne, if you must brong a demon that has no defense against Elec, at least make sure they are neutral as far as Elec damage goes). Then I have my Shiisaa (and Minakata when he isn't debuffing Thor) focus on using physical attacks, and if Thor hits Shiisaa with a physical attack, I just have Shiisaa use Deathtouch on the following turn to steal health back from Thor. That done, I then keep High Pixie focused on keeping everyone healthy, and my MC will be helping Shiisaa & Minakata pile on the damage via Focus -> Attack. A fairly simple tactic, but one that has almost never failed me, the only times it has is due to either very bad luck (such as Thor getting a chain of physical crits turn after turn, which often does more damage than High Pixie can keep up with) or simply being a bit too under-leveled for the attempt.

If you evolve Inugami into Makami, he becomes VERY useful in this battle, mostly because he already has Fog Breath, allowing you to use your MP to use other skills.

You got really lucky taking Elec-weak demons into this fight. I think I usually have access to Take-Minakata by then, which is so useful for Thor since I'm pretty sure he absorbs Elec but then again, stat spells are just so ridiculous in this game if the enemy doesn't know Dekaja/Dekunda

The problem is that Mitamas can't be fused infinitely. You can't go more then double a demon's base stats. That said, Mitama are pretty useful, especially if you get important skills on them.

I got this guy first try on Normal mode yesterday but damn if he doesn’t soak up damage like a sponge. I was afraid he was gonna outlast me and my team. Hard hitting fuck. Thank god for debuffs Side note: Thor’s grunts are fucking hilarious.

I used fog breath, sukunda, and sukukaja while fighting this boss. For some reason it always casts zionga/ziodyne at my uzume -.- it always misses lol

This guy is pretty easy Well,for me. Mainly because I had Fog Breath,2 Demons with focus,Sukukaja,Tarunda,Tornado,Media,Mabufula,etc. You can say I came in overpowered

This guy is a bitch to beat. I remember I was stuck on him for quite a while... The problem was not having any magatamas strong against Zio. I was level 17, I think. But hey, I beat the whole game and got the true demon ending without grinding. So proud of myself.

Fusing Mitama's with a demon keeps the demon the same, just with better stats and adding skills that the mitama has, if you sacrifice 2 elements with a demon that has a skill you want on another demon, that fusion makes a mitama...blah blah blah..

I can understand why you took uzume into the fight (media is amazing early in the game) but she seems like a liability. I got completely raped the first time I tried fighting Thor because I accidentally hit yes before I could switch her out for a demon not weak to elec.
