Ah - I just Commented that too and went ahead and deleted it. Although it doesn't work terrifically, nor does it mitigate all the cheapness he described in the video, missing something that fundamental definitely puts his whole review (and even his experience playing the game) into question, as I'm sure it would've made things a LOT easier had he known/utilized that (and he probably would've had a better time)...

This is why I'm glad I lived through the console birth. Double Dragon on the Master System, Golden Axe on the Mega Drive, FF7 on the PS1. Consoles didn't just get a little better, they got a lot better with each new "evolution" Things amazed then, folk take new console in their stride now but the golden age...That was a great time to be a kid. 👍

If Rockstar adds an actual gripping story (unlike what was marketed for Smuggler's Run 2), customization options, great cast of characters, and memorable maps (or maybe just one huge map like what Midnight Club: Los Angeles did), then maybe Smuggler's Run 3 would be a dope game.

Angel Studios (Rockstar San Diego) is a seriously underappreciated developer under the Rockstar Branch from an outsider's perspective. Sure, Rockstar North is responsible for most of the biggest titles in their history. But without San Diego, we wouldn't have Midnight Club, we wouldn't have the fucking incredible Red Dead series, nor would we have the RAGE Engine they've used for the past decade to make their games as immersive and realistic in every way. Truly one of the best game studios on the planet alone.

Another awesome video. One point of contention... They weren't developing red dead at this point. I don't even think Rockstar had bought the rights and content from Capcom yet at this point... No they definitely didn't. I also recall (from my time at Sega and friends at other companies) that after Capcom sold the rights to Rockstar it was another 6 months before they assigned a team to finish the game which basically was nothing more than polish, the ending and a bunch of bug fixing. In fact it was like 90% bug fixing. The game was in such a bad state that Capcom didn't think it was worth trying to fix, hence the sale if a essentially complete game.

Spent many hours playing this game with my friend, we would splitscreen and choose different cars and one of us would hide on the map and the other would seek after them. The part with using diffent cars came because you were allowed to run when you where getting closer and some of the cars could get higher up on the mountains because they had higher speed to be "ramped" up. You could not use the map and we had a piece of papir covering the radar plus when we started one was to close there eyes :)

The Smug Man's Run. This is also the game that introduce me to this odd fetish about putting spare wheels on the back of dune buggies. So here's some minor inconsistencies: -The fuzz are technically invincible, but it's 100% possible to make them stall. -You could ACTUALLY control your car mid-air. Ye read the manual? -You could also manipulate the Po-Po on where they're heading, since their only direction is rubberbanding towards you (meaning that you could lead them into walls) There's also one more Smuggler's Run game: Smuggler's Run Warzones on the Gamecube. I thought it was a port at first, but it had more content than the PS2 original.

I have a complicated relationship with this game.... I was a fat kid and my parents made me join the town's football program when I was around 12-13, and I wanted to quit so badly because I couldn't keep up but they forced me to see it through, and then I started to catch on and start loving it, and got really good, got "most improved player" award and then decided to sign myself up the next year. I put in so much work and then I got the announcement, that I was going to be on the starting line on both offense and defense, it was like this massive achievement because of how much I had to work to get that spot. and then.... one week before the first game... I was in a drill with full pads and everything, and I had to play as the halfback for this part. Then my good buddy who was going to be my left guard partner on the starting line ( Iwas gonna right guard) he just DIVES AT MY FEET with ALL HIS WEIGHT in a desperate attempt to win the drill as if we were in the 4th quarter of the super bowl. THE PAIN Shot up my leg instantly, and it was a hardcore serious sprain. The doctors said that I would've been better off breaking it because sprains can get really complicated. He told me sorry pal... you're going to be sitting on a couch for a minimum of 6 weeks. The season was only like 12-15 weeks max. Literally like 2 days later it was my birthday.... I got this game. I had a lot of friends in my neighborhood growing up, one of those neighborhoods that all the kids are a group of friends from. So I had tons of multiplayer experience on this game. The multiplayer is so much fun, and I think it's almost necessary to really get the most out of the game. There are really cool and unique modes in this game that fall somewhere between Twisted Metal without as much of the over the top guns and carnage, and like the old school Mario Kart maps that were like an arena. If you need a game you can play with almost anyone of any age, and you want some old school split screen fun, this game will deliver. I'm sure it's still fun single player too, but all my best memories that come to mind from this game are from the multiplayer.

The cop AI does have some weaknesses you can exploit. For whatever reason, the cops get really confused when you drive into a tunnel and they start crashing into things, so if you learn where the tunnels are you can shake them off for a pretty long while. Also, avoid wide open areas when you can, and try to thread the needle through areas with lots of obstacles. They're fast, but they have trouble navigating complicated terrain like towns or areas with a lot of trees.

Had warzones (the sequel) on GameCube. Great series, and horribly underrated. I can't imagine the game being playable without the leveling system. On GameCube it was on the right shoulder, and i think it doubled as a handbrake when you weren't airborne. Got very deft at using that. Also you're right about the tight scoring. I played God knows how many hours ace ranking everything so I could get the hoverbike...and was mad disappointed because it was awful.
