This game is an underrated gem for sure. I picked it up not too long after finishing Vice City and really appreciated the "open world" idea mixed with more or less old-school, arcade action. And, yes, this game is mf HARD. I honestly can't remember if I ever completed it, it was so long ago. One of my personal favorite things to do in the game was to rig a jeep up with a bunch of C4 and then drive around until I found an absolute clusterfuck NPC random battle happening, hopefully one with a bunch of vehicles rammed into one another and/or the scenery. I'd drive through, get aggro, turn around, speed back towards the vehicle pile-up, bail out and alahu akkbar the ever living fuck out of the entire gunfight with my C4 jeep. We need more games like this. Part two is also fantastic. It's different. Some people hate it for that. But if it was exactly the same, exactly the same amount of people would hate it for that. It's a fun time, though, so don't listen to the haters. You might not enjoy it, but it's 100% worth figuring that out for yourself.

To this day I know barely any gamers who played Mercs. Highly underrated and even more underplayed. RIP Lucasarts

i had (still have) this. However, mine has a blue/partially seethrough gamepad. And the games installed are different: Sonic 1, Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Kid Chameleon, Flicky and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine I connect the phono cables to a Scart adaptor. This seemed to give a better experience (for me). It is a pity, there was no way to add a second gamepad. I have wondered, whats on the inside? Never have opened it. Just wondered, if the games were stored on a removable card :)

It would be neat if they brought this game back in some kind of remastered form so I could play it on PC or console again.

6:33. That's a huge exaggeration. The first few hours would actually be the opposite of the point trying to be made in the video, because J2's openworld isn't fully exploreable initially and has to be unlocked as you progress through the game (like other true openworld games. "True" because some of deviated and allowed their entire world to be explored upon starting the game). 7:20 I'd say Jak's hoverboard actually controls better than Tony Hawk. With the right skill level applied, you have virtually full control over all actions that take place. There's a lot of depth to the Jetboard that likely not even a fraction of fanbase knows about, let alone the wider public. With all the depth players had to learn with CTR by themselves, it's disappointing so many didn't pick up with it here. Jak is a multi genre game while CTR is singularly a racer, I get that, but the point still stands. Players should always exhaustedly experiment with mechanics games give you, especially core ones. 9:13 is undeniably a skill issue. Those bullets aren't hitscan nor fast enough to be an issue. You just didn't learn how to fight it properly. 10:48. Yes, you nailed it here. The game isn't truly difficult. The game just punishes you for playing poorly. When you approach missions properly, you can legit cheese through them, just like that Slum's mission you showed. Jak II is a great game, one of the best platformers ever made, and one of the best PS2 titles of all time.

These are the prime candidates for a remake, or at least a remaster. The closest we have on PC is the Just Cause series.

This review thoroughly convinced me that I didn't miss out on anything as a kid, NFS 3 is convincingly superior to this one. NFS 3 is a pure driving game, a perfected experience that only got better with compatability patches for modern PCs. The tracks were almost abstract, a piece of art, the tuning was simple but effective, and the driving model much better than modern brake to drift pseudo kart games. This Hot Pursuit 2 title seems a lot more chaotic and unfocused, very dated approach that doesn't hold up. I mean seriously, missiles? Whatever.

I just got this game and tried it out for the first time tonight. It was getting late so I only played the tutorial a handful of times to better orient myself with the controls since I don't often play 3rd person shooters so it took a bit of getting used to. I think the last game I played that fell into the 3rd person shooter genre was the first Armored Core. Matter of fact I don't know offhand how many games I've played that fit into that genre, but despite the fact that I barely got my feet wet with Max Payne, I did enjoy what little bit I've played so far. I remember once I had a better handle on the controls and bullet time mechanics, I managed to dive around the corner of a van, activate bullet time and kill the final dickhead thug in the group with a well aimed shotgun blast. It was pretty satisfying.

used to love playing this game. you could order in russian heli's that would come with gunners that would stay with it to shoot. I had enough money where i would order several and other vehichles and make factions in the area hostile to set up my own battles trying to hold the area. This game will always be one of my old favorites. The second... well i wanted to like it...

God this was so fun but the PS2 version sucks once you have played it on an OG Xbox or upscaled on an X. The draw distance, less glitches. Played through it so many times. Done a capture all alive run. Did a kill all cards run. Saved Korea, lost korea to the nuke. Played as all the characters.
