I'm 45 years old, I'm from Portugal. I love these "period" films that portray good old times, in 1991 I was 12 years old. This film has a beautiful story about friendship and teenage love, something we've all been through. It has moments of humor, but it has a beautiful story. Also some drama at the end (I won't spoil it). It's worth watching!

Eh. Nostalgia is always cyclical. The kids who grew up during a period of time become movie/TV directors/comic book writers/editors and they decide to recapture their youth by producing movies based on that time period. The 80s got a jump start in the mid-late 2000s but the 90s were always going to have their time. That's why we're getting things like this and that godawful Crow reboot as well as many other media that pulls the "Remember the 90s?" card. Plus, with the superhero genre dying off and movie studios* waiting to see what the next big thing will be, nostalgia is always a reliable thing to bank on until the next big thing comes along. *Now that I think about it, gaming is doing the same thing.

@@gbk2006 lol I see you caught my recommendations on my other comment.😉 Mid90s has a great soundtrack too, huh?☺️ Adventureland is classic Kristen Stewart too. Also, not necessarily set in the 80s/90s, more like early-mid 2000s for the most part, but they’re still great coming-of-age films, poignant, funny, and have great soundtracks as well: Ladybird (circa: 2003), Greta killed it with the soundtrack & casting The Way Way Back (didn’t come out until 2013, but was written in/about early 2000’s) The Edge of Seventeen and Booksmart are both perfectly cast, as well as Eighth Grade (Bo Burnham wrote and directed it, which I still think is adorable AF, about the struggles & eventual empowerment of a shy 8th grade girl, and he was absolutely spot on😭😭) Waves is a solid indie film (literally any & everything with Lucas Hedges🥰, kid is super talented (was the brother in mid90s). The Virgin Suicides is obviously darker heh, but a classic. Oh, and if you haven’t seen the Florida Project, that’s a wild card in the group, but it’s an incredible film, and little Brooklyn Prince and all of the untrained kids acting in it are crazy good, as well as the always-outstanding Willem Defoe - about the people living in the rundown hotels outside of Walt Disney World, who are struggling to survive, it’s a crazy juxtaposition, and it’s at once a sad but really beautiful film. The kids are seriously incredible.

This looks great! I'm getting "Hot Summer Nights" vibes. I'll definitely see it!

So maybe this movie is in for me, but who is the set designer on this thing? You've got a mix of 70s and 80s style on here, the only thing from the 90s are the cars in the background. We didn't wear calf high white socks and shoes in the 90s, or wear our hair like that.

Wait, did they expect kids not to swim for an hour after eating something? Also, kind of getting a national lampoons vibe
