Iv got a canal at the bottom of my garden very similar to yours shallow also, iv had 3 carp upto 10lb and around 20 very nice tench and some huge bream. When i first moved in it seemed impossible. my best advice would be to make a weed rake and rake a nice strip in the centre. this will soon scrape back some silt and give you a bit of depth. Raking the silt then fishing on the raked spot a couple of hours later will get you a result the fish come in after the newly exposed naturals. pre bait but never bait loose feed around while your fishing you just want your hook bait out. last hour of daylight and first 2 hours of darkness are best times for a bite. fish a 15mm wafter white or pink with a bite alarm.

Love your videos. If you want to have fish next to the peg you need two things: deeper water (check with the council and see if you are allowed to dig in front of the peg) and second thing you need a structure on the bottom (use a piece of a dead tree trunk).

Not sure if you can do it on the canals, but I used to work for a water company and we had a big issue with algae and weed on the reservoirs. We used to string out bales of barley straw into the water. It prevents algae growth, worth a shot, tie one up to the deck and get it out there!

3.9 is decent depth got the cut .. that's usually the central track depth . The far side would be a foot deep and we would catch fish on it . Those lilly pads would hold fish during the last hour of day light ... 🌞🎣🎣

I have that exact auto feeder for my koi. It's good had it now for 3years. Still works great. I would lower the feed rate. If you fill it in with pellet it will just rot on the bottom. I would set it for long spray. 1 second run time. 6 times a day. 16:00 through every 3 hours into the night.

My local Canal, Fosseway used to be around 5-6 ft 35 years ago. Now it’s around 3-4. Same as the Ancholme. Shallow, clear and not the fish like there used to be.

I recon, baiting times through the day should be shorter so it doesn't give the swans too much of an opportunity, 6am 5secs - 10am 5 secs - 1pm 5secs, then maybe a break so the swans can go brush they're teeth, 8pm 10secs and a midnight 00:00 20sec top up for a through the night dinner plate then have a spare setting for when you figure out what way your arse is facing

The best solution for the weed would be a weed rake, you can make one by just zip-tying two garden rakes together back-to-back and tying a rope to the end. Rake the swim the night before you fish and you'll have a lovely snag-free swim.

Most canals used to be dredged to have a depth of 6ft, or at least a 6ft deep channel, that was changed years ago and has been reduced to 4ft, so your stretch is probably due, or nearly due clearing, it will depend on the depth across the whole stretch tho, and not just one area. Huge variation tho, some canals are less than 3ft deep, some have depths up to 20ft.
