We have been traveling full-time for six years now, and every time we visit a new country such as Montenegro we evaluate whether or not it is somewhere we could live as an expat. We had never heard of Montenegro until just a few years ago, and now it is one of our favorite countires. Montenegro has so much to offer the expat: fascinating history, spectacular scenery, interesting culture, and reasonable prices. If you are considering a move to Montenegro for retirement or to live as an expat then you'll want to check out this video.

Safety, weather, healthcare, cost, scenery, English speakers, all seem to be good and great in Montenegro. These are all my requirements for living in a country. Thanks for posting this video. I will certainly look into more about this country.

The living costs of 1600 are way too high. Maybe in Kotor its normal but not in other cities at the coastline. 1200 for two persons is the average with an apartment of 60 sqm. for example in Bar or Ulcinj.

@@snailtravelers We're in Dubrovnik for a few days, then heading to France - can you believe I've never been? Then in a few weeks we'll be hiking the Camino de Santiago. After a wonderful non-Schengen winter/spring in the Balkans, it is going to be a very busy Schengen summer!

@@snailtravelers Too many videos, not enough time to make them all. lol. But we're gonna lean into the Camino for sure, we've been talking about hiking it for over 20 years, excited to finally get there! Have you hiked it or are you considering it?

Glad you got to see more of Montenegro than we did. We just saw Kotor on one of our cruise stops. I really like that town. Where to next?

Thanks a lot, guys! Now my wife is looking on our home swap site for places in Montenegro. We've definitely added this beautiful country to our list, maybe a trip along the Baltic coast with Albania, Montenegro and Bosnia.

I'm glad Montenegro has sparked your interest! It would be great if you could do a home exchange, especially if the home is in the coastal area of Montenegro. Good luck!

Ryan and Emily thank you once again for your excellent video. We were so fortunate for having both of you travelling across the globe bringing us pictures and videos about a particular nation. Now we have known so many countries all because of your good work. Be careful and safe while travelling. God bless.

I've lived in sunny southern California for 35 years. The beach during the day is my very least favorite place to be, aside from skid row in downtown Los Angeles. I can understand if you're coming from England or Scandanavia or St Petersburg why spending the day at the beach feels good.

Interesting but the language is maybe the biggest contra, living there without learning it wouldn`t be respectful to the people and it is difficult and just spoken in this small country.
@snailtravelers
@snailtravelers 2 ай бұрын
I can imagine it's a difficult language to learn. We have been trying to learn Turkish for the past two years, studying everyday with little progress. I can imagine Montenegrin would be even more difficult since (I believe) it uses the Cyrillic writing system. Thanks for the respectful comment and for watching our video.
