Hello Mega Jay Retro, i am just an average Motu Fan too, since i had the vintage toys in the 80's. i used to have the vintage snake mountain as a kid. I collect mostly motu, g.i. joes, & some transformers. i recommend you shop at @Target, u won't go broke there, since i seen your videos. I hope this Snake Mountain is available @Target the physical store. i have shopped @Target since Oct of 2020 since around Motu origins started & i have saved like 400 dollars at least in savings the past 2 years & 5 months, since shopping @Target. I have almost every wave of origins & some of Masterverse, not only Motu but other side toys i have purchased at @Target. As for Masterverse, i found Mer-man, Viking Eternia He-man, Eternia Skely for clearance @target for $9. Also Hordak & She-ra for $9.89 both at @Target.

Never saw Castle Greyskull at retail, but that didn't stop me from getting one when it went on sale on Amazon. So glad I skipped Eternia for Snake Mountain. $79.99 is so much easier to handle than $550.00.

grayskull was on retail everywhere and it was also cheap to get. Great playset for the price. Snake mountain follows the same idea. and yeah... getting Eternia was a must. It is literraly Lightning striking twice on the same place.

The highest Ive paid for a "toy" is my proton pack, I pt it together but all the parts summed up to 1200 dollars back in 2001. now I dont know if this counts as a toy but my highest record is my Darth Vader costume under 501st legion standards: 3000 dollars... i feel ashamed when I state that.

Another reason why its important to remember why the toy industry has fairs for prospective buyers. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Sometimes retailers hit the pause button to clear out old stock and buy down the line to get current. This is proof positive that is happening.

Exactly. MOTU Origins has also undergone a sort of "reboot" in 2023 with the new packaging and the focus on the Snake Men theme, and it makes sense that they would want to clear out the old stuff to have uniformity on the toy shelves.

You know....Mattel could take this as their opportunity to bring back some very great figures, Frog Monger and Grizlor, now Frog monger was a figure that a lot of people missed (including me) so for all those people who didn't get a frig monger it could come with this play set, and Grizlor is a figure not many people got so if matel ever makes the fright zone, mattel that's your chance to bring him back, including Grizlor with the fright one would be great!

Thanks for this. I just want to add a couple of points: I used to subscribe to toy industry magazines in the 1990's. Unfortunately some of the product announced doesn't always get produced. Just keep that in mind, I really hope it does get released. Secondly, the lower/same price point appears to be due to the fact that there is no action figure figure included with Snake Mountain (like the Sorceress was included in Castle Grayskull).

Death throes. Seeing how Wave 12 IS GOING. Okay let's be honest HAS GONE (cause I think it's done). And Mattel's silence, quiet listing sold out. Entertainment Earth quiet listing sold out (something you never see with them). Pretty obvious the line is done. It sucks when you get duped into investing so much of your time, money and effort into a line and the maker just decides on a whim to quit. EDIT: I wish I'm wrong. But it's just some of the crap we're seeing is all too reminiscent of a line ending.

To play devil's advocate here, saying it "returns to the action aisle" is kind of a generic statement that doesn't necessarily mean it will literally return to a retail store aisle. That relatively low price, however, does suggest that it will be at a major retail box store. With it's release as fall 2023, it may very well be that Origins goes away for the summer and then comes back in the fall for the holiday season. The fact that they are promoting it in a major industry magazine does seem to indicate that the line is not dead though, because if it was they would probably not even bother with that.

If Snake Mountain is only $79.99 then Eternia was grossly over-priced. Eternia is bigger but not THAT much bigger. Eternia should've been under $200.

Agreed if they had gone retail with it. It has a very small production run and wouldn’t have gotten retail space without a Toys R Us, Kay B or Children’s Palace in a major market like the United States. So it is a product that could have decimated the line had they released it to retail and buyers not set it for space for the production run they would have needed. Guarantee Snake Mountain is already at factory while Eternia waited for specific order amounts and might get limited overproduction for MC release just to sell some extras.

Eternia IS that much bigger. Each of the smaller towers is the same height as Castle Grayskull, the Central tower is twice that height, plus it has a HUGE baseplate that the towers connect to. It also comes with tons of accessories, several motorised vehicles, and a large monorail track.

There definitely appears to be a shakeup happening, but to what extent, I don't think any of us knows. The line straight up dying in a month seems highly unlikely at this point though.

Most Walmarts around me don't carry Origins, and the ones that did seem to be drying up. It's weird that the newest waves aren't available to even preorder from BBTS or EE. Even Mattel Creations hasn't listed Hypno but they've had the rest of his wave. I just hope one way or another the figures are readily available.
