Water is always a cost but it could be cheaper. So perhaps work with an engineer to work on water filtration so you can recycle the run off water and cut that cost down. It could also work as an aerosol medication delivery system. The only things I could think that may enhance the design

Impressive and I'm full of gratitude in both witnessing him in real time but also to help extend the love to critters I come in contact with. I am not a reptile person but you are bringing me along. I think part is because you call them "animals" which puts my mind in a different place - not a snake but an animal. I love all the scientific information which helps me to better appreciate these animals more. My daughter is shocked that I watch your channel as she knows how phobic I am about snakes. Thank you so much for doing what you do.

I’ve been using your videos to help my husband build a better relationship with his retic and it’s been amazingly helpful. She’s still young, but we’ve reached the point where, so long as she’s awake, he can reach in without the hook to interact and retrieve her for a handling session. I can’t say enough about how effective and kind your methods are.

Seeing Kevin working with Manegy and learning about beautiful Emerald Tree Boas and their needs should be seen by all who want to keep them. If Kevin works to design a special commercial cage to keep these snakes healthy and content, I would think about adding one to my snake family. The most important of all things is to know what the snake requires and be able to give the snake the best life they can have.

Kevin, I don't think you could ever be boring. You have so much knowledge and compassion for animals. I don't have an emerald tree boa, nor have I ever. In fact, I don't have any snakes anymore (health reasons) and yet I still watched this video right to the end. 🤣 Great cage design btw. I wish this kind of thing had been available when I was keeping snakes - everything I ever found was kind of ugly looking, the best of a bad bunch scenario.

Exactly. I always said when I had kids I'm NOT instilling fear in them like my parents tried to do. I've always been a snake person but spiders is another thing! I wish they helped me overcome that fear. Anyway, I have 8 snakes now and they have ZERO fear and all 3 of my kids (I have a 12yo son and 9yo twin girls) know how to handle the snakes, or whatever I may be handling next bc I have everything from my superworms I breed to rats lol but they have no fear. They're a little on edge around spiders also which I never ever once showed them I was afraid of them but they handle them better than I do. And they have no fear of roaches like some people. It's just the darn spiders lol but I'm slowly getting over it

@@melissajennings5922 Anyone who possesses a genuine passion for animals, whether they're sharing their knowledge on KZbin or not, truly amazes me. In my eyes, what truly defines a remarkable person is someone who starts their day by nourishing another living being before attending to their own needs, selflessly prioritizing others. It's evident to me, just by observing these individuals, that their knowledge has been cultivated through years of experience and a profound understanding of animals. They've delved so deeply into the learning process that they feel an irresistible urge to share their wisdom with others. Personally, I've taken inspiration from them, even taking on the challenge of caring for basalisk and other wild animals, thanks to a few videos, and now, I can confidently handle them as pets. Absolutely, Clint is an incredible and kind-hearted individual, and I truly admire his personality. However, it's important to note that their content takes a quite different approach. When I mention not learning from others, it's more about not needing to apply the knowledge gained from others as extensively; NERD tend to get straight to the point.

I could never get bored listen to Kevin talk, he has such a wealth of information. You can just see how much he loves & cares for animals. He never show boats his animals for his ego, he shows us how to respect & connect with these beautiful creatures. I’ve mentioned this before in other comments, Kevin is the reason why I’ve gone from thinking snakes are okish, to truly loving snakes (King Cobras are my favourites, so intelligent & majestic) & other reptiles. I’m subscribed to other great reptile channels, but Kevin is the one that drew me into really appreciating these stunning animals. Now I wish someone like Kevin or Kevin himself could help like spiders (they scare me beyond anything else can, which I know is ridiculous), I don’t mind tarantulas or massive caged spiders like that, it’s the house spider that give me severe anxiety (I’m not joking), I can’t be comfortably in a room where even a tiny spider is visible, it’s a genuine phobia.

Dude Kevin, This new NERD PRO SMART CAGE design is exactly what the reptile hobby needs. The biggest problem in keeping tropical rainforest species is over saturated enclosures with poor drainage and poor ventilation. Unfortunately many animals expire way too soon because of the many problems that occur from poor drainage and ventilation ie fungal and bacterial growth. In species that have no issues drinking from a water receptacle this normally doesn’t pose as a major issue, for instance with the Emerald Tree Skinks that I keep. They drink from their disposable water cup every day. I don’t have to spray them every day to make sure they stay properly hydrated because I see them drink every day from their cup. I don’t have to spray daily. In fact I really only spray them when they are in shed, or to simulate a distinction between a dry and rainy season for breeding purposes. This helps me to mitigate the problems associated with an overly damp enclosure. (BTW, If you like to establish personal relationships with reptiles, which I see that you do and are passionate about it, you should give Emerald Tree Skinks a try. They are the smartest most personable reptiles I have ever experienced. They are on par with Monitors minus all the downsides. Sorry for getting sidetracked with the plug on the species lol.) In species that don’t drink from a bowl or cup, daily or every other day misting is a must and this is when bacteria and fungi become an issue. If you can design this new enclosure system to be versatile in respect to being able to easily choose substrate or not having any at all, this would be awesome. Emerald Tree Skinks need substrate because they like to burrow to sleep and they lay their eggs in there too. If you can make the cage substrate friendly as well as easy to clean then you’ll hit a Grand Slam with it. Oh, and you gotta have an option for being able to run all 3 types of lighting at the same time, LED, UV, and Heating. I’ll be on the lookout for its release. I want one or two. 😎👍

I just love you, Kevin. What you do for the animals is beyond amazing. Maybe, some day, I'll be able to meet you. But for now, keep doing what you love so much. Best wishes from Germany.

I love that green colour. I wish bp had a morph in that colour bc it is so beautiful. I'm planning to get a bp in the future. Just need to save enough for an enclosure fullset first. Don't understand why enclosures are so expensive. One enclosure fullset cost more than my rent. Smh.

i’ve been binge watching this channel (and a lot of snake youtube in general) and i just love learning about these friends! :) i’ve been resisting the urge to get a ball python along with an enclosure and everything, but realistically i need to wait a few years to be able to keep them properly! i’ll be living vicariously through NERD in the meantime, so thank you so much for sharing!! i live close so maybe i’ll swing by to visit sometime :)

Truly fantastic video. Your love for the animals is on full display and is inspiring. Quick question - do you typically keep two to an enclosure or are these breeding pairs?
@NewEnglandReptile
@NewEnglandReptile 11 ай бұрын
In some cases it’s two females and I may add a male. The cages have a sliding door that can be opened to Allow the snake to go next door too. So singles, two girls or pairs…. Rare cases they group together for 1.3. K

I adore observing interactions between Kevin and his babies. Dig the name, Mangey 🥰 I love how creative the names and terms of endearment can be. Wretched Psychopath will forever be one of my favorites. I'm ever astounded by how large their teeth are in comparison to their body size. Thanks for sharing!

I love tree boas and pythons they are so beautiful! Seeing a picture in school of one in a book started my fasination of snakes. I've had a ball python and my ex-husband still has our common boa that I got as a hatchling 34 years ago. You are very good at explaining and showing details of your passions. Never boring, your voice is calm and you show your love for the hobby!! Thank you!!

I love this set up Kevin. I need to do something like this for my Green Tree python, CherryBomb. I enjoy the longer videos where you can explore several ideas and technical understanding of your animals. I enjoy talking with people who have owned these types of animals for years because that is where you get the fundamental knowledge. Like the slight head tilt is the beginning of a bad day. Love the videos. Let's not forget the man behind the videos Donny, Thanks for making and editing the videos!
