For anyone wondering why we adopted her out when she was either an escaped or released pet- Our building is connected to an apartment complex (which is where she was found). The woman who initially called helped us spread word to the entire building and surrounding neighborhood about a found kingsnake. Nobody claimed her for over a month, so we decided to adopt her out :)

I was thinking, as sad as the thought is, maybe her previous owners just “set her free” after she was super spicy and they were afraid of her 😢
@edwardhisse2687

@@crying2emoji5 Oh the irony of that snake being concidered "super spicy" when she would rather try to eat a rotting mouse than hunt for a fresh one. The poor thing was born a pet and never meant to fend for herself yet she was "too spicy" for someone's liking. Edit: I can't help but worder if light dusting in somethoig like cornstarch would help absorb some of the glue so the snake wouldnt lose as many scales while waiting for the shed. But it really depends on how absorbent and wet the glue is.

This video literally saved my snakes life!!! I had a small baby ball python get out of her cage couldn't find her for a whole day. Finally found her. She was COMPLETELY wrapped in duct tape!!! We used vegetable oil to get her out of the tape and it worked wonders!!! I'm also traumatized by my experience with glue traps. 15 years ago in college, my dorm had mice. We told them, they gave us glue traps. Which caught a mouse. The poor thing was stuck, terrified, probably injured, and SCREAMING. In my dorm room. Thankfully my roommate was a stronger person than I, and put the thing out of its misery. Via stomping on it. I'm still flabbergasted and angry. Whose idea was that?

Urgh, I was horrified to discover glue traps and even more horrified that they are being sold in the UK. Currently the ban bill has been passed but won't be in force for another 2 years (2024). Ugh- I hate those fake channels so much. So many of them get called out and they just delete the comments or report the posts that call them out for “harassment” and of course, the call out posts get taken down because no one of authority knows what they’re doing when it comes to media. I recently saw some teens torturing a frog to make it look like an “abandoned abused pet” ran by on my longboard and swiped the frog from them, kept it in my pocket until I was home so I could find a better place to put it away from those teens. Sad to think they probably found another victim after that

A little note about mineral oil, having had to use it on one of our ball pythons that got himself stuck in a hide door by trying to go in and out at the same time... It causes a mild breakdown of the scales (another reason there were scales all over the enclosure) so when they shed next there's usually already some holes in the shed so it doesn't really come off in one piece and they tend to need help on the next shed after mineral oil - sticky glue or no. So if you have to use it on a snake just be prepared the next shed will have some issues.

They are cruel! I hate to see my neighbors use them after we told them to stop using poison.. (we have a dog who likes to be outside cause duh he's a dog and they're our next door neighbor super close quarters, so we did not want our dog getting to a poisoned rat or the poison itself..) So now they use sticky traps... and it's not pleasant seeing that either.. I've seen a baby bunny it it once.... I really don't like my neighbors they're old and every animal they see is a pest to them.. including the gardener snake that was sun bathing in our yard and he goes "OMG RATTLE SNAKE" and grabbed his shovel and beheaded it in front of me.. I was extremely pissed off. It was NOT a rattle snake whatsoever, and it was super clear it was a garden snake... AND IT WAS IN MY YARD... Honestly my neighbors do so much cruel things to nature around them it depresses the hell out of me most times I go outside..

I don't know how good of a recommendation this is, but when a friend and I rescued a hognose from a glue trap, we let it crawl in coco fiber dust. Rodents' urine has a bitter smell to it that's off-putting, but it makes locating them in electric installations easier. And you eventually grow to know when to expect dead onces based on the smell alone.

Oh poor baby 😢 I love this channel, you’ve helped be desensitized to the dead mice which has helped me so much. I didn’t want to get a snake until I could do everything that they need. I’m quite happy that despite being nauseous currently the decomposing mouse and her first meal with you didn’t make me feel worse at all. Well I will tell you 1 thing if it wasn't for sticky traps I never would have gotten rid of the cockroaches in my house because I don't have money to pay for an exterminator I paid like $10 for some sticky traps and we got rid of an entire cockroach fest infestation within like a month Which is a very rare for German cockroaches You just have to dispose of them properly so other animals don't get stuck on themYou just have to dispose of them properly so other animals don't get stuck on them

Years ago, we had glue traps at my workplace. One day we found a lizard stuck to it. We tried to help it but just got stuck more. Its entire body was stuck including the side of its face. It lost some toes trying to escape. I didn't even know lizards could bleed until then. We didn't have anything to dissolve the glue. We even Google searched for methods. One of my coworkers pointed out how much the poor thing was suffering. We decided that we couldn't let it suffer a slow death. The coworker took it out of view to end its life. He was crying so much he asked if he could go home. Of course, I allowed it (I was in charge at the time). I removed all the glue traps we had left and trashed them all. Never used them since.

The lady that cuts my hair called me about 3 months ago saying her apartment building maintenance worker found a 20 gallon terrarium with 2 leopard geckos in the apartment complex trash can. Of course I drove the 45 mins to go pick them up and take care of them. They were so malnourished and really skinny. Their cage had paint and tons of moths in it, it was a mess. They are doing really well and have gained a bunch of weight. Their names are Rapinoe and Lasso.

Maybe you can convince the management at your store to stop selling this type of trap on ethical grounds. Then you can tell customers looking for them about all the other options they can use. Perhaps also information cards in the wild animal trap area, directing customers to better alternatives.

Agreed, glue traps are beyond cruel. My husband and I only used one once, deliberately, to catch a crafty mouse in our place that just wouldn't go into the live traps we had. We had to find glue paper, actually, because he would just go around glue trays as well. The ONLY reason we did that was because we already knew how to release it from the glue trap, so once he got stuck (which we heard happen cuz he squeaked), we immediately grabbed the whole glue paper with the poor mouse on it, put it into a container, grabbed some olive oil and drove it out to a rural-ish area to release it. Doused the mouse with olive oil and he came right off the glue paper and ran away. He was only on that glue trap for maybe 30-40 mins, max. Hopefully he didn't just become a seasoned snack for something, but out in a field is better than in our house.

I had this happen to me a couple years ago to my baby milk snake when I first started keeping snakes. she was stuck to a roach trap, 100% of her belly and her head. took me 3 hours to get her off because I didn't know to use oil. it was to the point where she would bite my finger and help me in pulling her off of it and unsticking her. she knew I was helping and was helping me figure it out. she ate the next morning which was good to see. took me over a week to get the sticky residue off. fast forward to today and she's doing great and will be old enough and big enough to breed. great to handle and loves me to death. FYI I found it best to keep them on aspen. a little bit stuck to her but she didn't try to rub so much and it made it a little easier with feeding and shedding because she wasn't so tired from, well, rubbing

Just a quick tip for anyone who has an animal and more specifically a bird stuck to a sticky trap is to use personal lubricant like KY jelly to remove the glue… it is water based and washes of the critter easier than oil. Birds in particular clean themselves and can inject the oil. It also ruins there feathers, it Matt’s than and is very stressful to try and wash the oil out of feathers, it also strips the natural oils out of feathers and leaves them without their normal water proofing and does not allow them to regulate their temperatures… many parrot owners have birds that end up on fly strips or sticky traps… so KY jelly for the win!

The poor thing was so stuck it couldn’t move at all, I wanted to get it off and save it so badly. The neighbor took it and threw it in their trash when it was still alive. All I could do is sit there and swallow my own pain from just seeing the poor thing in the state it was in. I knew I couldn’t do anything but probably try to rip it off the trap as carefully as possible which would rip the snake apart. Thank you guys so much for caring to help him.
