When you're a reptile person, it's in you through and through. Comparisons I make are snake or lizard based often, dreams...snakes. Not bad either, more like there's a hot snake that needs help...how can I do it? In my dreams apparently there aren't experience venomous snake helpers because , I may be brave and willing in my dream, but as an awake person, I would help it all I can but I am no vet...oh and water!! I want to give all of the wild snakes and lizards water.

I’m faceblind too but noses aren’t very memorable to me, so it doesn’t look too different to me. I go mostly on the mouth/teeth when it comes to facial features. But in general, I usually remember people more on their gait and how they move. Even remembering their mouth is largely based on the way that they move it.

What is this Facebook d stuff you speak of? I have this weird problem where I can meet someone several times or hang out with them for several hours but if I see it then no out in public I often don't recognize them or I'm shocked by how they look. I'd never pick them out of a photo line up por anything. It's weird. I usually recognize people based on what they're wearing (if it's the same day but at a large crowd) or the way they walk if it's from a distance. I'll have to Google this. I just thought it was because I don't wear my glasses often.

Average before: 14.5/10 = 1.45 Average after: 20/10 = 2 5 items increased in strength after surgery, 2 decreased in strength, 2 stayed the same, and 1 was replaced with a different item. Regardless of the data, it's clear you can identify the strong smelling items much more easily now. I'm glad it went well and I hope you have a smooth recovery!

I swear my sense of smell improved around the age of 21. That year my roommates and I managed to break our garbage disposal, add more food before we realized, and leave the whole thing to rot, so I spent an afternoon carefully fishing out broken glass and rotten food with tongs and chopsticks (NEVER put your hand in a garbage disposal!). As you might imagine, it smelled really bad, but the whole time I was excitedly saying "this is so cool, I was hungry before, and now I'm not hungry!" and "I just gagged! I never gagged from a smell before!" Luckily my roommates already knew I was weird, they were just happy someone was fixing the garbage disposal. 😂 I don't actually know why my sense of smell improved that year, the only thing I can think of is that year I was finally medicated for anxiety and depression, which I had all my life. There is research that suggests depression and a lack of smell tend to coincide, but I think scientists assume the causation is opposite - that lacking a sense of smell tends to increase your chance of depression, not that depression makes your sense of smell worse.

It reminds me of my sister after she finally got her tonsils out, except for her it was taste. She suffered with constant tonsillitis as a small child, but due to changes in recommended care she wasn't offered a tonsillectomy. Then when she was 16 and sitting her GCSE exams ( UK end of schooling qualifications) she developed quinsy and had to have her tonsils out as an emergency. After that she suddenly went from someone who would only eat a very small number of foods to someone who loved food and cooking and became quite a foodie.

Btw doctors absolutely do use palpation in their practice! We use palpation and percussion to evaluate various organs/vessels/lymph nodes. We are taught & can usually pretty easily tell if your liver/spleen is swollen, if you have an abdominal aortic aneurysm, if there are various tumors, if you’re sick, have pneumonia, etc. all from just palpation! It’s also used for placing lines & giving injections.

A long time ago, a friend of ours, Chuck, had to have major nose surgery due to chronic sinusitis and allergies and other stuff. Anyway, this was back when they carried charts, not iPads. So Chuck is in the recovery room and his husband, Mike, was leaning against the wall near the door. A nurse comes in with a chart. She glances at him, then the chart, and says "I have the wrong one, be right back". Meanwhile Mike is laughing hysterically. Apparently the chart had a huge red sticker that said "Watch for vaginal bleeding". Nearly 30yrs later and they still laugh about it.

A friend of mine went through that. Even though I couldn't really even tell the difference, it made SUCH a positive difference in her life! The headaches, back pain, how it affected her general mobility all improved drastically!! Taken care during recovery. You've likely got MUCH to look forward to after healing!🥰

I know the whole story has been done in a couple videos... Emily has said Ed was her first boyfriend, and they met while she worked at PetSmart. There's also a pic of the wedding in one of those- Cheyenne was the ring bearer and Emily's bouquet matched her 💙💛 I think the one video might be the one with the thumbnail "I worked in a cave!"

Your nose does look a little different at the tip. So glad you can smell again. I bet food tastes so much better. After getting my tubes tied, I remember asking the nurse in the recovery what he enjoys doing and that he was a good person. I remember he was in school and I encourage him to continue because knowledge is forever. I also remember when they were taking me back, I didn't have my glasses and my doctor came up and I said, "I'll take you at your word because I can't see a thing."

It would be interesting to get an update a few months later to see how your sense of smell evolves. I have a good sense of smell usually but I have lost part of it several times on and off because of sinus issues, and it's not unusual for it to take months to really come back. Also, since smell and taste are closely related, maybe your sense of taste will change a bit too! I've always found those two senses fascinating :)

Something I never understand is how foods meant to smell so horrible, are supposedly so good to so many people considering how closely smell and taste are.
@jacksparrow4058
@jacksparrow4058 2 жыл бұрын
@@CodaBlair it could be because people have different senses of smell! For example, I really like the smell of blue cheese and don't think it smells terrible (while other people do) so it makes sense I would like the taste of it, on the other hand, I really hate the smell of Sencha green tea and can't drink it, but I know plenty of people who both love the smell of it and the taste of it!
@CodaBlair

Oh Owch, I feel for you- I had something similar with one of my sinuses and had a lot of stuff done to fix my nose and sinuses all at once including a septoplasty. Recovery is tough! My sympathies! But you'll find that with custom sinuses afterward, you'll be stunned how much better your immune system may work. I've turned out to be vastly better at dodging colds and getting over sinus infections without having to resort to antibiotics, even *with* my autoimmune issues. May you delight in freer breathing! (the No Feet joke is my favorite) Edit to add: As a professional medical patient, I can attest: THEY DO palpate people! If they have you lie down during a physical and kind of pat and prod your tummy that's what they're doing. Making sure nothing feels out of place or weird.
