May I humbly suggest Armadillo officinalis? They are quite large, look like tiny busses and become spherical and hiss when you disturb them. I looove isopods. The ones I have currently are zebra, clown, reds and dairy cow Isopods! Ones I recommend (and that I also personally want to get in the future) are Armadillidium magic potions and Porcellio hoffmanseggi. Magic potions are very pretty and breed quite well. The Hoffs can grow to nearly 2 inches or more and they also show some parental instincts, they will guard the babies after they are born and even bring them food. Such fascinating little creatures! On a semi related note, check out Pill Millipedes! Due to Convergent Evolution they evolved the exact same defense as armadillidium species entirely separate from them! They aren't even closely related! Bugs are so neat.
@doogooden30473 жыл бұрын
Also I recommend giving them a source of calcium like cuttle fish bone. It helps them to molt easier so they grow quicker and start breeding sooner. :)

Some more stuff about rolly pollies, since I've seen some comments about them (not an expert, just good at using google). What most people know as rolly pollies are also know as pill bugs, or woodlice, part of a family known as Armadillidiidae, and they can roll themselves into wee little balls when threatened. It's called conglobation, and is shared by all critters in that family. And yes, they are isopods, but not all isopods roll themselves up when threatened.
