Love snakehead fishing catching plenty this season. In Maryland you can release back into water you caught it from.

Glad you were able to find them. Make sure you bring your net next time. It won’t be too easy to land those over 10 lbs.

They should have tournaments for snakehead and give them away

Roland when you tie on a bait and cut the tag off you throw it overboard, what is up with that? There is too much line and trash already in our water ways. put it in the boat and dispose of it properly. Thanks Alex

Man I did that for years before it dawned on me what I was doing. I'm a stickler for litter too, and it just didn't occur to me.

I caught a gar a couple summers ago that looked just like a snakehead color and pattern wise. Beautiful fish. Was so loudly a gar. I think it was just a spotted gar though. Strange you have to kill them right away if you’re going to eat them.

they have to eat a lot of small bass and in Florida restaurants are serving up another invasive fish the lion fish cause they have no predators and eat everything in sight.

Are these different than bowfin? The color and pattern looks different, but everything else is the same. Lots of bowfin here in west Kentucky.
@Fishing-FL2 жыл бұрын
yes, invasive

Yes bowfin are not invasive

Start a snakehead tournament, think not, with gill nets and lax regs almost made the strippers extinct in the Chesapeake. Fortunately, they are coming back. Having to dispatch a fish is necessary to manage this ecosystem. They should not have been there in the first place. Good video though keep up the fishing.

Just remember it is 100% legal to release them, you don't have to kill every one you catch.
@1977jere2 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't be legal 2 throw back

@@1977jere why is that, there is 0 evidence to show they have caused any environmental harm. In fact Virgina of all states has a ton of information available to show the environment is thriving with them in it
@1977jere2 жыл бұрын
@@NickTheMadFisherman They are a non-native invasive species and I've seen plenty of marine biological evidence of them decimating native trout and transporting themselves into protected waters. Areas fully having to be sterilized and replenished with native colonies

@@NickTheMadFisherman The pure willful ignorance on this issue with Snakeheads and the laws regarding releasing them is crazy. We have same issue down here in SOFLO.
@NickTheMadFisherman2 жыл бұрын
@@1977jere I would love to see this, because nowhere have I ever heard of this happening. Especially since the only native trout on the east coast are brook trout. Not to mention brook trout inhabit cold mountain streams while snakeheads prefer shallow grass flats in slower moving water. Nice try though, maybe next time don't just make something up to get your outdated point across
