this is very good, how far would you have to be to achieve a good blur from a person with the 35mm? planning to get it for the e-mount for group photography. Should I get the 24mm instead?

The image is out of focus if it is within 3 meters of the subject. The upper distance limit for this lens is about 5m from the subject. I have never taken group photos, but the 24mm 35mm equivalent might be distorted, so you might not need it.
