I use snap on flank plus wrenches on heavy equipment, and they have yet to fail me. I think they paid themselves off.

Just got a set of 8-19 snap on flank drive plus for $575 most expensive set of wrenches I got but quality doesn't come cheap and I'm fine with that

I understand not needing them as a weekend hobbyist, buttttt I’ve gotten to the point of major frame/engine modification and these wrenches have become worth it as far as not stripping bolts as well as breaking free bolts off of really old rusted trucks. Worth it for the more than average weekender.

Agreed, it’s a large price for someone who isn’t going to use them often. However, I deal with very similar things. Old rusty Datsuns and all. So I needed a good set that would make sure everything came apart as nicely as possible. :p

They will bite into the bolt, if it’s a softer metal, beware, it’ll take it out but you might wanna replace it. Matco has opti-torque, MAC has no formal name for it that I’m aware of. Knuckle saver refers to the heads being angled I thought. But opti-torque by matco works great, boxed ends are spline drive though. Still have a full set, they’re great! Snappy set looks amazing but I’m still trying to talk myself into the $435 16 pc screwdriver set with the foam, lol.

Yes they will bite in, definitely not Something you want to use on “decorative” bolts, because it will leave some potential marks. I was pretty sure the mac tools one were knuckle savers but you could be right, it could be based on angles, I’ll look into it for sure!

I still have my craftsman USA wrenches, it’s weird that I consider them beater wrenches now. Like, I won’t cut them up or anything, but if it’s a really dirty job, that can get done with the craftsman, it probably will lol. The flank drives are amazing though, the work so well.

Old school mechanic here, cool set, but wouldn't spend that much on a set of wrenches by Snap-on, I admit I used a few Snap-on tools and they performed ok, to me I think there overrated. As for the wrenches there great! Thou. But for wrenches I would go with the Icon or the Olsa wrenches the 2 in 1 wrenches. Which they can be used as regular wrenches for nuts & bolts. But they can also extract or take off a rounded nut or bolt off like butter. They have a AWSOME! Grip and thats both in combination wrenches and ratcheting wrenches as well. And the price is $79.99 for a set. Whether it be SAE or Metric. But hay thats just my opinion. Overall cool review.

When i started working on heavy tech I bought ICON wrenches because they don’t skip sizes and you can go from 1/4” all the way to 1-1/4”, those bigger sizes are very much needed. I left my craftsman wrenches at home for other work and honestly the ICON wrenches have yet to fail me. I didn’t want to pay Snap On price considering i had other stuff i needed to buy and i love these ICON wrenches. Very durable and haven’t had any issues whatsoever.

Nice stuff!!!! Don’t get me wrong snap is nice always has been but like you’ve said when talking about the wrenches a lot of companies have their own version. That goes with sockets too. Again snap on is nice I totally get it but ALOT of companies sockets have flank drive” for a literal fraction of the price and the the alloys in the stew are still quite good!! Again not hating on snap on I own little this and that with snap on but flank drive isn’t much to swing with because LOTS of brands have a very close and very effective version of it

MAC has the Precision Torque which is their answer to Flank Drive I suppose. The MAC is made in Taiwan though.

I believe they’re rebranded, could be wrong. Facom Tools has a generic set identical to MAC precision torque.

Hey man I had a question about the 38 piece wrench set. I wanted to know what the length, width and height of it. I just got a 5 drawer U.S general box and I was wondering if it would fit in the middle drawer but I don’t wanna buy it till I know it fits in my box.

I have the same box and my wrenches are in one of the shorter drawers in the middle. I have SAE only as an aircraft mechanic and my wrenches go up to 1-1/8” with room to spare in my custom foam shadow material. However, with how high they sit in the Snap On foam, I don’t think the 1-1/4 or 1-5/16 wrenches will fit due to the drawer depth. You could probably cut those sizes all the way to the bottom of the foam and it should work.

I look under the hood and I see a bolt or nutt looks like someone used a pair of vice grips that's not very professional. I bought flanked rev set when they first came out. Absolutely hate them purposely get the Nam flank Drive.

I'm always surprised at these kind of wrench sets. Metric only goes to 25mm (mine is up to 36mm in Snap-on), and no one really needs SAE wrenches past 3/4 since the metric sizes work better past that point anyway. Huge waste of money.

Ironically a lot of people in the snap on group on Facebook initially said the same thing, yet now I constantly have people asking me for the part number for the set and when it’ll be back in stock. Since I was moving all my old tools over to snap on stuff, it made perfect sense for me to buy a all inclusive set. At the end of the day though, if the sets not for you, no big deal, I liked it, so I bought it when it was on sale. 👍
