My dad has craftsman tools that are older than me and still going strong. That's over 42 years old. My snapon tools never got anywhere close to that. Always had to repair or replace them. Now I'm slowly taking over his craftsman tools now that he's approaching his 80s.

@@Ivan-lw2ux but they don’t turn the bolt the same…. A cheap wrench will strip out a lot quicker than a quality wrench. And when you round a bolt off and spend 2 hours trying to get it out. Compared to 5 mins with a quality tool to start with…

Try Cornwell or Matco. They were less expensive and just as durable as Snap On KRL series.

Im willing to bet money that everyine here crying about the cost is a hobby mechanic that goes months or years at a time without getting into his box. When you have to use it and rely on it every single day to pay the bills, you will understand why they are worth every penny.

My dad was a professional mechanic and his craftsman tools are over 42 years old. Never worn out, broke or needed to be replaced. As a professional mechanic I can't say the same about my snapon tools that needed to be frequently repaired or replaced. One thing I learned is not to believe the hype from a dumbass mechanic with no money in his wallet. Just because they cost more money it didn't make them better than other brands out there. I'll never buy another snapon tool.
@jethro93414 жыл бұрын
@@grizzlycountry1030 First, 42 years ago, craftsman made quality tools right here in the best country in the world. Today, they are cheap garbage made by slaves from the cheapest materials possible. Second, since you have so many tools and so much experience, do your own test. Take a snapon wrench and any other wrench you choose, find a slightly rounded bolt head and look closely and take the time to feel how the box end fits and feels. Im not saying quality tools will make the man, hell, a good mechanic can make due with shit tools, but buy once, cry once has been my mot since I started. And yes, a guy can have good tools AND money in his wallet at the same time.

Where does it go after being spot welded as now you've introduced oxidisation not to mention having bare metal open to the air. Personally i'd rather have the option to have the box made by NZ steel that way the zinc they use under the paint will stop the dam things rusting from under the fk'n paint or at least for quite sometime. NZ steel make metal roofs that last 20 years or more. A snap-on box inside a house will last 5 years before it breaks out with rust which tells me quality control is lacking.Bare metal & oxygen don't mix when in a factory. That was the new one that replaced the old after the old one was warranty claimed. The older one lasted longer before rusting. Then there's the not so little matter of parts of the box not painted at all. It's on the inside top of the roll cab where it looks like it was held by two rectangular arms (can see the outline).
@azmrblack7 жыл бұрын
I can't see how paying 10 grand for one of these is within the realm of sanity. If you're willing to pay that much for a mass produced box, I'd say hire a metalsmith to build a custom one at half the price. Regardless, just too much...

exact same way the harbour freight and every other mass produced tool box is made, instead of paying stupid prices for a Snapoff box buy an emblem on ebay and stick it on a cheap box lol.
@jethro93417 жыл бұрын
bdub z you left out the part where harbor freight and similar boxes use thinner steel, drawer glides with cheap bearings and low weight capacities, cheap easy to defeat locking mechanisms, and crappy castors. You can buy a $600 habor freight box every 3-4 years or you can buy a snap on once in your lifetime.
@jarred2817 жыл бұрын
Sorry man but I️ own an extreme tools $2000 72 wide box and it doesn’t compare in any way to my snap on epiq, as stated above, thinner steel and cheaper parts. The cheaper ones will do the job for a small time tech but when you’re working on heavy equipment you need heavy duty stuff and snap on is the only way to go.

I bought HF's top of the line box with locker & side drawer set in 2007-8 and I have entire sets of Snapon chrome SAE & Metric from 1/4 to 1/2 + specialty, and entire sets of SAE & Metric Sunex impacts from 1/4 to 1/2 up to 34mm in the socket drawer. That drawer is heavy AF, it still rolls as smooth as the day I bought it. I have a bunch of heavy shit in all the drawers, the box is so heavy you can't even move it without machine assistance or a winch. Shop friend who had a Snapon box, I compared the two, the steel was about the same thickness and built nearly the same. The cheaper HF roll carts and homeowner boxes of course don't compare.
