Gread advise! Thats the first time i see this online. I have been training snapping punches in my kickboxing-club for years and years and years. The master-class of snap punches is when you are able to time additional hip and shoulder movement to the snap-punch for body-weight behind those snap-punches. That way you hit with much more power then you would be able to with just your arms-strength. This really takes a lot of practice and good timing of different body-parts. But you usually wont knock out someone with pushed punches, so its worth the effort.

So basically 1.) keep your hands nice and close together 2.) go face to face in your opponent’s face 3.) whip snap hooks, whip snap jabs, and whip snap uppercuts. Pretty much don’t use your strength or power. Use technique for quicker faster snapping whipping punches

The towel is an excellent training tool for this concept, as well, but it's more for a backfist or reverse, close quarter ridgehand - as if delivered to the kidneys or solar plexus. I think you'd like the arrow saber in it's more linear carry-over to the jab - as in the jab/slap demo here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hV7ap4J3iM-LpK8 And, if you wanted to, instead, close the fist at impact, that'd be fine - but you're right, as you pointed out, not until just before the moment of impact.

Great information about fundamentals - This is among some of the first things someone just learning about fighting or self defense should practice and learn.

Redbeard Combatives swear words make the world go round. Be yourself no matter what. You swear off camera? Swear on camera. Solid instructions. A friend of mine tried arguing with me (ive been boxing for a long time) that pushing punches is more effective. Pushing weakens punching power. Also leaves you open. You arent gonna get a combo off nearly as quickly if you push.

are a snapping punch better body punch than a push punch
@Redbeard.Combatives5 жыл бұрын
It’s probably subjective but in my opinion the snapping punches are going to generate more power

Is there any place situationally/tactically where a push punch makes more sense? Like maybe an open-hand stiff-arm kinda thing to move someone away from you or something? Or are snap punches the go-to 100%?

Very good instruction. Maybe you just forgot but aren't you supposed to use a lot of foul language in the types of videos? (sarcasm)
