I have moved to the XT-5 from an XT-3. I am now 79 and I can assure you that every gram weight counts! I have never had any issue with weatherproofing but then I am a mere amateur. I have developed a slight shake so I reluctantly decided it was time to go to a camera with IBIS. If you have the money, buy an XT THEY ARE ALL GREAT CAMERAS! The lenses are the finest you will find. As one of the gurus said a few years ago, 'the best camera you have is the one in your hand'.

I want to share my little experience: after almost 2 years of X-t4 (coming from canon m50, I'm still a beginner amateur) I downgraded to X-S10, my main goal was achieving more compactness without losing IBIS and flip-out screen. I was scared of losing dials and extra buttons, reality is I'm actually faster with the endless dials and not missing those extras. Looking backwards the "analog" dials were an intriguing selling point, linked with the nice film simulation, but as time went by and I went deeper in Lightroom, post production and most of all composition, I never looked back for simulation and now when I use my camera I honestly don't care if I don't have dials with shutter or iso written on them, but I'm very focused on the photography I have in mind and the camera must only be fast enough and reliable (and the fact the processor and sensor is the same of the X-t4 is the most important thing). This is just my experience and everyone has its needs, what I really want to say to anyone being fascinated by new gear is to take a piece of paper, a pen and write down what photography you desire to do and a list of features a camera need to make that photography. In my case, after 2 years of trying a lot of lenses (16-55, 23-35-50 f2, 23 1.4 lm wr, 16-80 f4, sigma 16...) I ended up with X-S10, the old mighty 35 1.4 and the new sigma 18-50 2.8. Of course it took me almost 2 years of trial and error, as photography was (and still is) something new to me, but It's funny how now that I am more (at least a bit) aware of what I want to achieve I moved to a cheaper body, an old prime and a small zoom, when Fuji just released three amazing cameras as X-H2, H2S and X-T5. I also add that now that I feel comfortable with the X-S10 layout, the X-H2 is probably the most appealing new camera to me, for an eventual future upgrade, while when I still had the X-t4 I thought that X-H2 with its more classic DSLR approach was just a bad idea from fuji. Focus on your style guys and buy the tool that enhances it. And thank you Roman, your videos are valuable 'cos you ACTUALLY use the gear you talk about, you have your style, you make photos and have followed your channel in the last two years has helped my path for sure. Have a nice 2023 everyone.

I just went from an XT20 to the X-S10 and love it for many of the reasons you said. The grip feels great. I also changed in my Fuji 35mm F2 and 50mm F2 for the Sigma 30 1.4 and Sigma 56 1.4. I'm wanting to get the Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 soon too and I'll be done most likely. I shoot street mostly with aperture priority using Auto ISO so I really don't need dials much.

I changed from the XT4 to the XT5 because it went back to the flip up screen that I missed sooooo much from the XT3. I just couldn't get used to the flip out screen and it just took away from the enjoyment of using that camera. But that's just me, everyone's mileage will differ. The XT5 is just the perfect package for me - much improved autofocus, flip up screen, slightly smaller.

I know it's not exciting for most but the X-T2 is still a perfectly adequate camera, It can be slow I'm not denying that. But I'd say it's at least on par with the X-T3 for photos exclusively, the X-T2 is not great for video so I would invest in something a bit better.

@@demonsaint1296 oh, I don't disagree! I'd still love to have an older X-T2 as a personal camera. It's still beautiful and fun to use just as it was back then. Technology has just evolved to a point where for weddings and things that require crucial focus, reliability, and speed I'd recommend at least a T3. T2 would still be nice for slower paced workflows tho! Just specifically from an AF reliability and speed standpoint the T2 and T3 are night and day. There's a reason a ton of wedding photographers still use T3's! I JUST traded my own personal T3 body for an X100F about a month ago

I’ve just sold my X-T4 and bought a second X-T2 instead. I simply don’t need the extra bells and whistles and the high ISO performance of the X-T2 has slightly less noise at say 6400, which I can often be shooting at in a dimly lit church for a wedding, as I prefer not to use flash during unless absolutely necessary. I found that when shooting people, IBIS is a waste of time as it simply lets you shoot at low shutter speeds and you just get blurry shots of people. Also very annoying that the metering selection dial has been removed and changed to a stills/video switch. I rarely shoot video, but often change metering type during the day, depending on the shot and background, etc. Normally I am using spot metering for close ups, metering on faces, but more likely to use full frame metering for groups.

I went from X-T3 to X-T4 to X-H2S and I think the X-T3 is a great video option if you rig up the camera in a cage and especially if you use manual focus lenses. The screen doesn’t get in the way of the cables. You can power with USB-C PD. It has a headphone jack unlike the X-T4 and X-T5. The port door is completely removable. The sensor has less rolling shutter than the X-T5 and X-H2. It’s significantly less likely to overheat when shooting 4K 60 than the X-T4 and it recovers more quickly (from my experience filming weddings in the southern USA with both). Also there’s a smaller crop on 4K 60 than the X-T5 or X-H2. For certain video shooters the X-T3 is probably the best if they don’t want to go X-H2S for the advantages you outlined.

Nice to see the X-T2 getting lots of love in the comment section. It's been a hell of a workhorse for me, I've taken as many as 3,000 shots in a day with it and it's never locked up, over heated or given me any problems. It has better low light performance than any of the later generations, and I don't really understand the gripes about AF when it comes to stills. Granted that everyone has different needs and I'm sure the newer cameras are wonderful also

The bottom line with Roman's videos is that noone feels bad or excluded from the topic, whatever camera one's using. That's what I always appreciate about his work, he has his simple, clear and human way to explain and give his advices, but always without imposing any viewpoint🙏💙. I understand the main differences between the latest models and for instance the XT3 or XT4 which I own. When upgrading one really needs also to question oneself if one can manage the higher resolutions, the pixels, the new features that come with the territory. I feel like it's "easy" to buy always the latest gear, like for instance people do with their iphones, but how many do really use or need the newest features? I am not a fan of bandwagon trends, and hope brands like Fuji don't start using features on their new models as "baits" in order to keep customers buying. One example? When the XT4 came out it was largely explained that the IBIS+larger battery made it unavoidable to have a bigger camera than the XT3. Now with the XT5 they've proven elsewise😕...

My biggest fear initially with the X-H2 was that sterile feel you get from a Sony A7 III as the bodies appear pretty similar (partially why I left Sony in the first place). Initially, I DID get that feeling and stowed it away for about a month because of it, but as time progressed, I forced myself to use it a bit more because I couldn't justify a $2,200 paperweight. So after giving it a second chance I actually fell in love with it and am very happy with my purchase. The IBIS for photography is absolutely unmatched IMO. As soon as you half press the shutter (even if shaking cold) you can still hand hold insanely tac sharp images at low SS. It's something I can't explain and you'd truly have to experience to understand. I normally prefer the ergonomics of the T-Series with a L-bracket grip and was actually looking to downgrade my system because of the feelings it evoked when shooting on both systems. My middle of the road compromise wound up being: X-H2 for professional paid work that's serious and requires the best, and an X-E4 for personal work and travel. I find this combo works way better for me than combining both needs and wants into one body. I find myself babying my X-E4 a lot less than I would the T5/H2. It allows me to put myself into "less safe" situations and go for the shot, rather than playing it safe and missing the opportunity. Could even recommend an X-T3 for the same kind of setup, but just prefer the discretness, simplicity, and whimsical feel the X-E4 brings. Hope this helps!

I got myself the X-T30 for mainly street and travel Photography. But I luckily got a few shooting wich paid me money. Now I want to do it more seriously and I don’t know which camera/(system) to get. If I stay at Fuji I’m thinking about getting the XH2S and for personal work the X100V or the X100f - because it’s just simpler and you don’t have to think about lenses or something like that - just point and shoot

I jumped from an X-T3 to an X-T5 when it was released, after using and loving the older camera for four years. I was interested in the IBIS, better auto focus, and bigger battery, and wanted to keep the articulating screen. So far, the low light capability is noticeably better. Haven’t decided on whether 40mp is an advantage or makes enough difference in image quality for my primary uses, street and travel. I am not a professional, can only afford one camera at a time, and would never want inflict my face and voice on the web so no video. I also appreciate the dial controls on the XT cameras and the relatively small size so I never considered the XH line.

My take: the most important points between bodies (in order): - Autofocus - XH if you are hybrid (setting all the video settings every time you switch is dawnting, few custom profiles for video and stills are much much more useful) - IBIS (there is never enough light) But I have an XT3 and I am waiting for even more autofocus improvment. The XS20 is very tempting for my use case (non pro, still but would like to dive into hybrid).

Amazing camera that unfortunately has been torpedoed by the "fuji little dials brigade". From the moment it was launched, existing Fuji users were up in arms. What they failk to understand is that the new CEO was brought in to save Fuji. Fuji was hemoraging money because it's customer base was dying, literally. They needed to bring new customers in and offering a camera that looked like my great uncle's manual Zenit was never going to do that. And so the X-H libe was born. A modern camera for a modern age. Whether the damage caused by the Fuji diehards will be terminal we will wait and see, hopefully not. This camera is actually a direct replacement for Canon's much revered 7D Mk2 and is light years ahead of the R7 in every respect. Certainly the best wildlife camera for the money. I owned the XT1, XT2, XH1 and currently the XT5, and after a thorough and extensive use of all cameras,l have to say that in terms of absolute photo quality, the XT5 wins hands down, with clean noise free images in basic ISO, best Dynamic Range by miles, and a great color rendition that would resemble the XT1 organic feel. An opinion from someone who's got an X-T5 as his first Fujifilm camera for photography. If you have an opportunity to spend some extra money on this one, do it, because of the following reasons: 1. The higher resolution gives a good opportunity to crop your images. That is very useful especially with prime lenses. 2. The tilting screen is a huge advantage, I use it all the time and it is helpful. Flip out screen would be definitely less convenient. 3. The camera is noticeably smaller than an X-T4. 4. The grip is better than on previous models. You can add some extra grip, too, for example, a JCC one (it is 4 times less expensive than the original one but feels solid and premium, definitely not 4 times worse). 5. The camera is future proof since it's newly released. However, I am a person who likes to own things for a while. 6. The IBIS is a wow! I shoot with 1 sec. shutter speed and get some sharp low-light pictures just holding camera in my hands! 7. This point would probably go to any x-t camera: I love how fast and easy it is to set the exposure. I do it manually, and it is so easy and fun! It literally takes seconds, and you can use 2 spare wheels to adjust even faster. I do not agree with an opinion you do not need the newest camera, since the newest camera comes with newest technology, and the X-T5 feels fast and is a pure joy to use. However, if your budget is limited, prioritize having some cash for travel left! It is crucial. As well as some cash for extra gear you'll need, such as lenses. BTW I found myself to be using Sigma 56 all the time, but it's just me.

Hi Roman, I used to be a die-hard-fan of the Fujifilm system, starting with the X-T1, then X-T2. At that time I was mainly doing weddings and people photography. I was okay with the AF until I met the Sony 6400 and it's superior AF-tracking/face detection, which made me switch to Sony overall. But now, my requirements have changed, I do more travel and leisure, only a few jobs per year. @@michelruoff3479 My favorite lens is the 90mm. It's as good as any lens I've ever used (I shot Canon for about 10 years). I often use 2 cameras, the other being an X-E3, which has the same sensor/image quality. So the 90 will stay on the T2 with either the Viltrox 33 or the Fuji 18-55 on the E3 as a wider option. For real estate it's the 10-24 on the T2, for street, usually the 18 f2 on the X-E3. I also have a 55-200 but I rarely shoot it because the 90 is so great and I prefer primes, but it has come in handy in few situations.

So I have an xt30, an xt3 and XH2s. They are all really good cameras though some aspects of the ergonomics of the xt30 are poor. Still takes excellent images of course. The XH2s is definitely better in most regards especially the autofocus and video capability. I still prefer the controls on the xt3 though. But as ever, it depends on what you plan doing. I am still using X-T3 and I believe it's 4-year old. That's because I bought my X-T3 right after its release and sold my X-T1. I mainly shoot with XF 56/1.2 so I don’t need built-in stabilizer from either X-T4 or X-T5. Therefore I have no intention to replace it with later models till now. As to video performance, 4K/60fps from X-T3 is still decent. If I want to upgrade my X-T3 I would like to have 4k/120fps rather than higher resolution like 40m pixels.

I bought over a month ago xe1 as a addition to my xt2 and xt4. I was curious about first gen xtrans sensor and all the rave it gets. It’s clearly old system tech wise and clunky to autofocus. Manual focus isn’t great too with vintage lenses because of poor implementation of focus peaking. But there is a certainly very nice look to those raw files from it. Jpeg’s aren’t great because of basic adjustments being available. But raw files don’t require much editing due to great colour rendering.

Went from Sony to Fuji and with the capabilities of thr x-h2s i am totally happy. What i would like as a firmware update would be that the custom modes names would displayed for just a second when you switch between C1-C7. That would be great. Hopefully fuji is adding this feature in future firmware-updates.

I bought the X-T5. I'm primarily a stills photographer. I think the X-H2(s) cameras are great cameras, but I don't need or want the extra video features. Plus, the X-H2(s) camera is just too big and heavy as an all day travel camera (along with my lenses). I do notice the difference in size and weight of the X-T5 over my previous X-T30, but I can deal with that given the X-T5 is so much an upgrade, IMO, especially having IBIS. I also seem to get more jpgs and even raw photos looking very good straight out of the camera (with only tweaks to my taste) than from my X-T30, which says something about the new sensor. I also prefer the look and use of the retro dial approach over PSAM. Very happy with my decision. Thanks for the video...well thought out.

There's a flood of used (but good) X-H1 cameras coming in from Japan lately. I just picked one up in like-new condition on eBay (body only) for around $600US, shipped! As a stills photographer, it's about the best value out there. Super build quality, IBIS and weather resistance are just a few of its great features. BTW I also have an X-H2 that I bought new but may end up selling. I've come to really prefer the way the LCD articulates on the H1, it's much easier and quicker than the flip-out/rotate screen on the H2. Plus, the image quality is virtually the same between the two unless I want to super-crop, which I rarely do.

Hey Roman, I totally think this analysis was spot on. In fact, as an XT-3 owner who has been inching toward trying out video, I think the XT-4 right now is a fantastic buy. There are so many on the used market from people stepping up the the XH cameras. I still love the IQ for photography that I get from my XT-3. It's a beast of a camera. Since I have the 18-55 I think I will experiment with video on the XT-3 first using that lens before spending more on a camera. Especially since I spent some money recently on lenses.
