Very sad indeed. She said he “loved” her. Foreigner had a song out years ago called, I wanna know what love is... These women choose these men because they don’t know what love is. That is why he wanted to be in her life. To kill, steal, and destroy

Miles was a brilliant musician; one of the great artists of the 20th century. He was also mercurial, explosive, self destructive, paranoid- and insecure. Frances was his muse- the great love of his life. She was a gorgeous and talented woman in her own right. For a while- they made for a stunning and powerful black couple. That portrait of her on Someday My Prince Will Come- is a photo for the ages. It could be hanging in a museum. She was a great and lovely lady who was able to transcend the madness and live a full and productive life. This video is a gem. R.I.P..

Stunning..Powerful couple? That was a facade...just like Cicely Tyson. I hate the fake understanding of people. The pictures with Cicely being interviewed with one hand on his folded arms looking pissed off and evil is in plain view... Nothing Stunning or Powerful about that! I think Miles was insecure about his looks and color. He thought she was going to leave him and I am sure the pain he had front his joints and self-medicating with drugs made him bonkers. Miles also addressed all of this in his book and said he treated her awful and it was the worst mistake of his life. I do not think it had anything to do with being Gemini or being a genius.

It also helped that she came from a two parent home. Her parents gave her all the values she needed to survive and she had a very good relationship with her father. I'm sure that they were very disappointed in that marriage to Miles but they trusted that she would get out of it intact and be the wiser for it. I'm sure many women can relate to her experience. Miles also gave his last wife Cecily Tyson hell on earth as well. Yes, he was an extraordinary musician, but he was a hell of an individual in his relationships with women. Miles was a friend of my dad, and I heard some difficult stories about Miles. I never met Frances as a teenager, but heard Miles talk about her to my dad.

In addition to the inexcusable abuse, didn't know he also screwed over her career. Spoke to Miles once briefly in passing, & he was sweet in that moment. Of course he was much older, decades after this marriage. Maybe at that point he was drug free with Cicely Tyson, & more at peace But I hope he at least apologized to her, not that it could take her pain away, but that he would've admitted he was wrong & that he needed her forgiveness.

I didn't know Miles Davis personally. But what l SAW of Him on TV and concerts. He WAS A beaten down drug addict. A shell of A Man with no insight as to where he'd been OR where he WAS going. He had some wonderful women who Loved him.but he didn't know how to give them the same love in return. Because his biggest Love WAS drugs. Drugs completely took over HIS life. it's not a Wonder that he died At the age that he did. The ending of his life WAS very Sad. Sad ending for someone so talented.🤷🏾‍♀️🤔🧐🙄🤨😢.

Miles was the continuation of a cycle of abuse that he watched everyday in his home while growing up. I make no excuses for him, but he grew up in a house where he learned that a woman was not someone to be valued. He learned how women should be treated by observing how his father treated his mother. Miles saw his father knock out all of the teeth from his mother’s mouth, and because he was a dentist, he put them back in. 🤬That’s sad, but there are a lot of people out here who take on the habits of their parents because that’s all they know. And of course the drugs, the alcohol and the money didn’t help the situation. He became more empowered and intractable, developing an ego. Miles was a street guy who quickly learned that respect is earned and not freely given. Which is why he was quick-tempered, snappy and at times nasty and cold-hearted. He had to prevent people from trying to take advantage of him or cheating him out of what he was owned- especially in the cut-throat music industry and among shady people like Charlie Parker and some of the musicians, executives, promoters and restaurant owners that he had to deal with everyday.

Yeah. I'm glad somebody in the comments said this. Those who abuse, started out as victims, usually always when they were young, and had unstable role models in their lives. I'm not excusing Miles' actions either, but he had it rough as a kid. Sure, he was a gifted musician, but that's probably why he put his all into the music - it was his escape. Sad to hear about Frances, though. Miles seems like he went through a lot of downward spirals in his life, and she got caught right in the middle of one. Or two. Or more. I'm glad she found the strength to get out, that they had one last meeting. and that they both openly talked about this. We have to remember that everybody is flawed - some moreso than others. As one who survived an abusive relationship as a child, and saw his mother go through hell, I can relate to Miles' early story, though in some ways, he seems like he had it worse. I'm just glad that Frances had the support she had, at an early age, to give her the strength to pull through, and a lot of what she said about overcoming the past, and how she found the strength, that's all correct. That's how you get through.
