Forming the Bactrian Empire is quite a bit easier if you build up a power base elsewhere, then move in to the region. On the other hand, that Samanid guy who starts way over his domain limit is one of the most fun starts in the game in my opinion.

5:12 - That is by far and away the best outcome there. He loses the reasons to punish you further, and swaps you over to a new character that can actually get their title protection back. I actually did this run (Ghurid into Bactria into the Ghurid Achievement) without swearing fealty, which as you can probably imagine, took a fair number of restarts, more restarts than any of my achievement run combined. If you don't have the right traits on spawning in and don't get the right combo of wars happening between your neighbors and the right opportunistic wars yourself, you just cannot do this run while staying an independent Buddhist. Swearing fealty or swapping to Muslim would have made it much easier, but I don't like to swear fealty unless it is literally impossible to do otherwise or for RP, and I felt that Muslim would be cheating, so no to that as well.

Yeah did end up getting pretty lucky there tbh haha and doing that without swearing featly is 100% just super hard mode haha! fairplay to you though glad you managed to get it in the end!

I've tried this once and it's so much fun! never swear fealty so I conquered lands the hard way. killing sultans, destroying alliances, convert to Zoroastrianism. I hope you can continue as Bactria and complete the achievement of restoring historical Ghurid border.

Suggestion of a gameplay: Start as Islandian count, get some land in Norway and all islands around Britain, raid like crazy to be Illustrious and gain the Viking perk. Meanwhile foun Jomavings holy order. Conquer the Isle of Mann and create the kingdom via a special decision. Then conquere the rest of Norway and Sweden as you feel fit and reform Asatru faith. While you are well established, take a holiday in Iberia and finish it as Conquerer (move your capatical to Navarra ideally) and hybridize your culture with Basque culture (very nice stuff from it, especially succession). After that you will be probably Era Zaharrak faith (again lovely decision with all holy sites near). Then go for Rome and Constantinopole which is pretty much game over.

@@vexuria There are several such decisions: 1. Founding Jomavings holy order, 2. Elevate the Kingdom of Mann & the Isles, 3. Reforming Asatru faith, 4. End the Iberian struggle (involved) or Secure Iberian Foothold (not involved), 5. Champion the Faith of the Country Basques and many more along the way, so pretty much for several episodes.

Here's a fun challenge I'd like to see a KZbinr do if you're looking for ideas. I call it the dynasty challenge. Challenge Restrictions: -Start as a non-ruler designer duke or count character -Character must follow a male dominated faith with the polygamy doctrine at all times throughout the challenge -Character must have four wives at all times and is only allowed to marry fertile women no older than 30. (There is no need to divorce after they become infertile) -You are not allowed to disinherit, give to clergy/holy order, or murder your children/grandchildren. Children/grandchildren are not allowed to serve as knights. (Killing a child in a random event is allowed) You win the challenge when you take the "Dynasty of Many Crowns" decision. Good luck with the challenge, if you can handle it!

Btw there were some huge founds 2 years ago in one of the Bactrian army camp. There used to be a wall and a system of guardposts that are comparable to Great wall of China. As far as i understand there is a lot of archeological works still in progress now.

You can’t start as Sparta, as it no longer exists by this point, and there is no Greek Empire, only the Byzantines. I guess you could start as the ruler of the Peloponnes and LARP as a Neo-Spartan, and destroy the Byzantine empire from within in favor of a new Hellenic kingdom.

Yeah I used Bactria for the Ghurid achievement, it meshed together kinda nicely. Forged a custom Faith and Culture in the First lifetime, then expanded from there. Clan gov't was by far the worst part of it tho, hate clan gov't.

The way I had done this was I immediately took advantage of the tahirid saffarid war and went after the tahirids, I picked up flexible truces from diplomacy tree and just kept battering the tahirids. Then I noticed that the samanids were in a succession war so that meant that I would be able to easily destroy them. Then by the point in my game I had created a new Buddhist faith and reformed my culture, the rest was easy as I had powerful men at arms and close allies. This forming my Neo-Bactrian Empire.

You have to be zoroastrian or Buddhist for the decision, although I suppose you could convert early game You'd have to make sure not to convert too much tho otherwise its too expensive to convert back

Huh, it's so rare? They are so quick to form and even give a permanent bonus. Did a game as them like a year ago and restored Alexander's empire... I have to do it again though.
