Ah the second one annoys me 😂, the beauty of every musican loves diffrent sounds I love the crack of a snare
@Konnerkingg Жыл бұрын
Same, I don’t know why but I can’t play if the snares are open sounding. I want them choked and crisp. I don’t want them to ring at all, I want it one and done nice and crisp

Or maybe it's the o ring around the entire head?
@Theryanprim Жыл бұрын
Several people have mentioned this Totally get it, however the snares were really choking the overall sound of the drum, and I agree the o ring does dampen it quite a bit

Change the head for an Evans single ply maybe non coated and just use a little moon

It’s good to teach people things that they really should already know. I always disengage my snare before adjusting the knob. Makes it easier to turn

I'd say that heavy head and O-ring on it for starters, but your point of choked snare wires is also accurate
@Kpalmer420 Жыл бұрын
That did not sound choked in my opinion😂. Maybe try taking the O-ring off it first and then tune/adjust the wires to see how it sounds. You will get a much more accurate starting point with a non muffled surface. if it still sounds bad from there try tightening the bottom head. People often forget about the resonance head and how much of a difference it can make to the overall sound. And THEN you can add some moongel or an O-ring to taste. Hope this helps 🤙

I find that if you loosen your snare wires tap your snare while you retighten them, you will find a sweet spot where you get the best sound

Hands down, the first supposedly choked sound sounds cleaner and also will sound less obtrusive in a mix.
@andrewkonkey763611 ай бұрын
Perhaps take off the O-ring and just use a dampening gel by the top of the head. I use half an Evans gel on mine (Evans fan here) and that still gives me the sound I’m after. I’m just not that big on O-rings because it chokes the head too much. Just experiment and see what works for you! Also to the people complaining about it need to learn how to tune their drums!

Also, tightening your snare basket too tight will choke the drum as well
