Tuning drums for live shows

After I’ve changed the reso drumheads I wanted to show you all my process of me not necessarily tuning from scratch, but from the place that my drums are already setup. For those who don’t know, tuning drums when the kit is together is much different from tuning drum by drum when they are not assembled as a kit. I do what I can when I can to put together some content for yall that WONT get copyrighted and possibly having to be taken down. It can be difficult to grt that kinda content on the road depending on the artist that you’re with (unless you ARE the main act) so please, Enjoy the video! These drums do have triggers on them that allow the front of house engineer to control gates. This is a DW Collectors series drumset with Remo Emperors on top & Remo Ambassador drumheads on bottom.

Love your playing and drum tuning/sound. Wish I had seen your bottom head tuning on the snare especially and also your bass drum.

@@Jskins thanks! Here’s my tip for bottom snares, I always tune it a tad higher than I tune my top head. And I don’t tighten the snare wires too tight. And with bass drums I do the same for the reso head. Try that and let me know how it goes! Blessings.

How do you tune the bottom heads ?

I still can’t hear the different pitches drummers hear when tuning. They’ll say this is higher or lower and it’s hard for me to tell when tuning mines. Don’t know how to improve on this

maybe its just preference, but to me the floor tom doesnt sound right when played along with the rest of the kit. could just be due to a difference in the type of head

@@uber_stuber same drum head. Different shell. But yeah, drum tuning is preference. Not everyone uses the same methods or likes the same sound. I personally tune to what sounds & feels good to me unless the gig requires a specific sound. I appreciate you for watching and commenting!
