Zack. You are a very clear communicator. So many tutorials on this, like a 25 minutes tutorial on “how to tune your snare in 3 minutes” - 25 minutes! Or a 2 minutes video tells you almost nothing. But you are concise, you always get to the point directly in a down to earth way. And the sound from your kit, your groove and chops are exceptional. Great job!

Zack, I just wanna thank you for creating this channel. I dig your humor and skill as a drummer. I’m a grown ass 36yr old man and was a self taught guitar and bass player and Dj / Beat maker. And even since I was a teenager I always wanted to okay the drums. Unfortunately we couldn’t afford them and at the time Mom Dukes wasn’t having that noise lol. Now I have 3 kids of my own who are finding themselves through music as I once did and my son is wanting to learn to play drums and has taking a liking to his big brothers trumpet! I’m stoked about it and now see a huge opportunity to fulfill my dream of learning drums and also learning with my son. Watching your videos has helped me see the enjoyment and priceless chance to bond on another level with my kids. Thanks Zack, keep them coming bro! I grew up in Detroit and idolized Dilla and Black Milk and SV. I finally realized the love of music is what drove them to be as great as they are. Big respect young man! ... that emo bit had me dead. Thats a pretty interesting take on tuning your snare. Love your approach; I totally agree on your top/bottom head philosophy and despite of getting to a similar tune, I get to it in a different way.. Pro tip: Tune the snare side tighter for less ring. As contradictory as that sounds, when the the snare side skin is loose it vibrates more and thus creates more ring.
@davidcudlip65872 жыл бұрын
I tighten it till it tears and then on the next head, I don't tighten it quite as much.
@jas_bataille2 жыл бұрын
That don't really make sense, with all due respect. If you tune the bottom it higher you will get more harmonics in the "ring" area of the frequency spectrum, which is... higher? I'd say you're right for buzz, a lot more buzz when it's loose fo sure, but ring?
@sevenup37034 жыл бұрын
i will not personally use your snare sound bc it doesn't match with what i play but i definitely love it cause it's yours and u know how to play with and that's the most important, it's like finger technique, foot technique or whatever, everything is good if u feel confortable with it, really nice video bro

Do you recommend buying a whole kit or buying Each drum separately?
@samuelthorn4084 жыл бұрын
I know you're not asking me, but look up the used market in your area. Looking for separate pieces can be a hassle, but can (note the word "can", it depends on seller/area/market) save you some cash if you're short and if you know what you're looking for. A complete drum set is good because you're guaranteed everything fits together hardware-wise, and your setup process will be more standard. It depends on what you want more, simplicity or a completely custom kit
@UnculturedRobots4 жыл бұрын
@@samuelthorn408 I’m so tempted to buy a whole set for 400 but someone told me to try getting Lessons first and try a rehearsal studio before buying, I think ima keep ease with it as I live just across the street from guitar center. Thanks man I downloaded OfferUp but most bass drums are worth a whole set but I think your right man.
@samuelthorn4084 жыл бұрын
@@UnculturedRobots getting lessons before getting a set is bs, definitely choose a kit first. Check Facebook Marketplace and craigslist and all that jazz too. Definitely make sure you have a good practice space (rehearsal studio, basement type deal).
