Great little series and break down. It answers a lot of questions, but one which I have not seen any video discuss. A lot of athletes go airborne when they snatch, Is that due to a jump to help pull the weight up or is it a result of the weight pulling them up? Loredana Toma is a good example of an athlete going airborne.
@XXLRebel
@XXLRebel 3 жыл бұрын
Definitely not the weight pulling them up. It's just a technique thing. You're essentially jumping with weight in your hands but you're the one controlling the weight. The moment you're pulling your last pull is when you're trying to get under the bar and some people jump that last bit to get a bit more explosiveness out of their last pull or to get more time to get under the bar.

Hey question. How come everyone I talk to say external rotation, mainly in the CF community?

They're like jhon snow,they know nothing,find an anatomy book,the section about the scapulohumeral articulation and see the topography of the zone and the spaces that are constructed by the ligaments,you'll find a constant answer no matter the author.

Because the barrier to entry for CF coaching is super low and you can have plenty of wrong knowledge about movements. It also gets repeated enough in the circle that people just assume it's correct. Finally, they are teaching most people who lack the mobility for proper snatch technique and there is a combination of lifter being too impatient to learn how to do it right before progressing in the lift and apathy on the part of the coach; so they just teach them a wrong but easier to do way and hope that because they are mostly doing low weight (at least no where near limit lifts) for reps that the shit form won't matter. tl;dr: CF is wrong and why would you listen to the group of lifters that gets injured far more doing the Oly lifts about form?

There's actually a glitch if you pull it right to your face it glitches through and you have a shorter barpath. Many consider this cheating but you can get away with it.

Actually, a lot of Chinese weightlifters, specifically females, employ a straight wrist in the overhead position of the snatch.

iNTEl One OHP isn't a competition lift so it gets no love. Everyone wants to program it but no one wants to teach technique for it. Damn shame its my favorite compound.

same here, favorite compound + Deadlift. I agree with you, but I know that JTS maybe putting around 50% on audience driven content, and they know that their audience aren't competitors, just like the sport and do it for other good reasons. so it makes since to listen to them, since they form the majority.

@YesWeCampFPS
@YesWeCampFPS 6 жыл бұрын
It's not mandatory to keep the hookgrip overhead. If you can, great. If you can't, no big deal. Most men can't, for example.

Why do elite weightlifters (NOT FROM USA) always recomend external rotation? For example Chinese weightlifters are not asked by their coaches to do a external rotation, instead they ask the lifter to bring the chest out, hence an external rotation occurs.

@mattjoshima6181

Alejandro Aguirre Care to share where you got that info? As far as I know, Chinese coaches teach internal rotation. Yu Jie (coach of Lu Xiaojun and Tian Tao) and Ma teach internal rotation (going by accounts of people who attended the Ma Strength seminars). In an ATG article by a guy from Canada who went to China and got coached by a former national/international level WLer that is also the head WL coach of an athletics school, the latter taught the former to internally rotate the shoulders. And In Papa Yats’ blog (a guy who coached Hidilyn Diaz), one coach/writer who works with him (Zhang) has an article series where he went to a school/club for funneling out young WL prospects in Chinaーand the same was taught by the coach there. The only notable coach that comes to my mind and still teaches external rotation is an American one (Mike Burgener) who’s also most likely responsible for all the crossfitters spreading the external rotation meme.

Matt Joshim (Zack Telander's video external vs internal rotation). Most elite european weightlifting coaches teach internal.
@YesWeCampFPS

Are you sure you don't have external and internal rotation mixed up? Elite WLer NOT FROM USA definitely teach internal rotation, not external. Matt Joshima covered sources for the Chinese. Here you can see Ilya Ilyn clearly stating to internally rotate kzbin.info/www/bejne/hnjHo6Rte9Shj8Um17s Torokhtiy teaches a very exaggerated internally rotated position, you can see that on the tutorials on his channels.
