Just played this for the first time on Sega CD this weekend. I'd never even heard of it. Funny to spend my whole weekend playing a 30 year old game with a $2000 PC sitting next to me. Lol. It was great. I couldn't put it down until I finished it!

MSX2版ではACT2で終わりでしたが、音楽はとても良かったです。 PCエンジンではPCエンジンにしかないサウンドもいいですね。 声優のキャスティングは私個人的には最高でした。 それにしても、MSX2版もここまで物語を作って欲しかったです。 エンディングロールは14分もあるのにね。

The PC-engine version is neat, but I much prefer the music of the SCD version. The PC-Engine's non-red book sound always seems so... buzzy. The Ys games had the same issue. Japanese voice acting is sweet though.

Yeah the chiptune stuff on the PCE is, uh, rough compared to the Sega CD Understandable given the difference in hardware but it still doesn't sound great

Can someone explain me hospital sign riddle in this version? It's obvious Queen/Oleen sign in Sega CD ver, but here Harry gives Oleen sign photo and Gillian still goes to Japanese sign hospital that didn't look anything similar.

A bit late, sorry, but if the MSX version is an accurate translation then it's pretty much the same order of events: Napoleon tells them he's seen an "Oleen Hospital", Gillian checks it out and notices the hospital logo/name is different from what's in Little John's memory but they investigate anyway.

@@HrvojeGrahovac When it comes to video game voice acting from that era, I too usually prefer the Japanese voices. In this one case, however, the English voice acting is superior. In the Japanese version, Gillian's voice is too deep and Metal Gear's voice is too high. In any case, it's highly unlikely anyone will produce subtitles for this since there is already a near-perfect port on the Sega CD.

I think a good majority of the presentation was better in the sega ver. I think the pc engine is better in the sound effect department like the explosion at the factory as well as the thunder. Tho jeans scream is much better on sega. Also I may love this ones remake of theme of snatcher. I think it worked better thematically on sega. The only musical change I'm indifferent to is the inside of outer heaven.

I played the Sega CD version many times to know what to do and how to advance and yes Napoleon's riddles gave me trouble.

I think you encountered similar problems in the Sega Saturn version as well. Gaudi / Jordan was supposed to contain a list of answers to Napoleon's riddles, but if you don't understand much Japanese, it can be quite tricky.

vdovindiman its called magic engine. The demo is free but only works for 5 minutes before you have to reset. I paid 30 bucks for it but it's worth every penny. The only part that sucks is you have to mount your iso files as a scsi drive. But the cool thing is that it will also play directly from your original game disc. That's what I do.

In this case, you'll need to find an ISO, as this is CD-based game for the CD-ROM² System add-on for the PC Engine. If you're not fluent in Japanese, however, you may want to find the Sega CD version, as it was a near-perfect port of this version with few changes (i.e. censored nudity and changing the age of Katrina from 14 to 18).

I use emuparadise since if you just click the download link you should be fine, but if you're going to play on ootake (pc engine emulator) you have to use a virtual drive. You can look up free virtual drives on the internet, but be careful you might run into a virus. Well I know this is a old comment but I hope it helped out a bit!

+Mr .357 It is annoying anyway :P Like telling Gillian to turn the volume up and then blaming him for doing so. Oh and let's not forget the dialogue during the infamous shower scene :D But this is why I like Metal Gear - it's not just Gillian's tool of trade, but a character on its own.

Omaru1982. Crazy enough, the Japanese voice of Gillian went on to be Barry for the Japanese dub of RE:Revelations.

I loved the Japanese voices in Policenauts, but here Gillian's voice is too deep and Metal Gear's voice is too high. This is one of the few times in video game history that the American cast did a better job than the Japanese cast.
