Who skips the intro??? That's the best bit, going over the armies and showing us the wonderful painted units. I even love the cheesy voiced over rolling intro. When my group has a game planned we try to think up narratives (usually with hints as to our army choices) and message them over to each other in the days before to build the suspense and mood....Wow that first shot with the LR!

Great report, gents! You only get the effects of Rampage if ALL the friendly models involved in the combat are outnumbered by ALL the enemy models involved in the combat (counting each model with Bulky as a number of models equal to the number in brackets). Challenges are not separate combats for the purpose of this rule, so you only get Rampage in a challenge if everyone in the combat on your side is outnumbered.

Have you considered running blood slaughterers in Sons of Horus, particularly black reaving? They use a FA slot (great), are pretty durable, and have good attacks. Moving at 9” is great and you can use it to proc rage 2 or give the bonuses to your inductii for having WS5. Also, since they get LA:SoH, -1 S on the charge is really solid!

@@SNBattleReports if you take a Praevian, you can select them as a FA choice but he can’t join them. They also get conferred Legion Astartes: Sons of Horus. Grab a set of two with the impalers as the bonuses to charge distance are worth losing one attack. Plus you’ll make it up from rage 2 in the black reaving

Great work! Excellent board as always! I was under the impression that you could not deploy an apothacary in a squad with another character at the start of battle, but those characters could join as normal afterwards. I could be wrong I’ve only played this locally. Any clarification on the Apothacarion Detachment would be cool as I am going to the NOVA open soon

I think you can add them at anytime before the game doesn’t matter if worth a character already there. Where have you seen any different?

So apothecaries get assigned to squads before deployment and can’t join a squad if there is an independent character in it so a squad like a command squad they couldn’t join. Independent characters joining squads can happen in deployment or in the game and as this happens after apothecaries are assigned them they could those squads with them in. As an example if I had my suzerain taken as an elites choice an apothecary could join them and then in deployment I could add my praetor or librarian to them, if I took the suzerain as a retinue choice then I couldn’t do put the apothecary with them, I’d have to take a primus medicae to add FNP to them

RAW you don't need a Praevian to take a LoW. Under force Org. and detachments it says "most optional detachments are not required to be the same faction as the primary. And i don't see anything in the PDF that changes that. Let me know if I'm missing something.

Great game!! The notion that Custodes are "weak" in this edition is laughable. They just arnt over powered now, you need to use them properly with good strategy and thats only a GOOD THING. We need to stop equating OP with good in the community! They are fun to play, not to mention they are MONSTERS in close combat. Utterly terrfying and will kill most things in the game! Great report!!

In CC their only weakness is things with ID and a higher initiative than them. That's mostly just primarchs. So in CC they are the strongest army right now, but they can be dominated by a shooting army.

Was comin to say this. I have a 50% win rate against stodies because the guy I always wants to play wide because be refuses to learn to play tall. Stodies are kinda OP in my opinion having been on the receiving end of things. Your only option is to just throw a bucket of dice at a unit or hit them with literally nothing but las/meltas, or run melee with at minimum 4 attacks. Anything less and they better be AP 2.

I have a Knight army. The rules are garbage right now if you do not use Panoptica. No brutal melee, 3 attacks in combat, Shooting is also not fantastic. The new Kytan rules are incredibly better than Knights.A few lascannons and your Knights are just toast with the 13 front armor and no flareshields.

As a Custodes player with a very large army, I feel Stevie G's pain on their survivability (or lack thereof). I've had fun with them in Zone Mortalis, but in regular games, they seem to just get shot to pieces before ever making it into combat. And it's not not like teleporting in with Valdor is any better since you will just get shot to death by interceptor reactions.

Maybe the Custodes player should have taken the Challenge from Khan with a regular Custodes instead of a Shield Captain. Same i don't think initiate a Challenge with Tribune is the best idea: put the big boy behind regular, challenge with a regular and just strike into the mass with high WS, S Maybe i'm wrong

Maybe just my hot take, but I think HH2.0 permanently damaged the entire scene. With all the new people coming in, you had all the sweats who made broken armies, stomped anyone who just got started, and quit in a couple of months because none of the new players stuck around and the old players who were left didn't want to play their oh so special iron warriors who, get this, all had fucking autocannons! So we didn't get any new players, everyone who was already in is split on the new rules, we're getting basically nothing in terms of new releases and LOSING some stuff in some cases, and the sweaty mindset of those fucking 40k players wormed its way into the community with the ones who are still here.

New player who stuck around here. This comes across as pretty rude and dismissive to all the time and energy people put into the game! It's a system that takes a long time to fully put a full army together, with so much kitbashing and converting - a legion is a labour of love. So of course the new players who got an army together a few weeks after launch by spray painting AoD black and calling it iron hands aren't going to be the invested ones. My local group has really enjoyed slow growing heresy, as both a hobby project and game.

You totally underestimate the nemesis and charge bonus of the bikes, they are one of the best anti elite/low unit cause of that Don't consider them as a Shooting unit anymore They are like the golden keshig of the ws You can also consider them using deepstrike Overall the basic Custodes are the big winner of the army, just spam them and you will win as they are super cost effective and fast Yes you will lose some in the way but 2/3 Custodes can kill 10 marines quite easily plus they are all line It's way better this way imo compared to the v1 with the look out sir every where!
