We have a section of fence by the barn and it's really serving no purpose other than to slow us down. So it's got to go. We think Precision's Tree Puller is the perfect tool to yank up the fence post and t-posts. Then we're really eager to put more hours in with Summit's new grapple on the TX25. We think everything will go nice and smooth. But we'll find out!

If you want to keep those gates, get them up off the ground. They're not rated for ground contact and will rot a lot faster than you might expect. Used 12' gates down here sell between $50 and $80, so there's some gas money there (or put it in the drone replacement fund :) ).

I've got a large pile of rocks from grading my clearing and when I want to store something like a gate I set them ontop of a few rocks to keep them off the ground. It keeps them from quickly rusting or getting covered by vines/briars.

One thing dad always told me, don't bend the t-posts as I only pay for them one time and you bend it you straighten it. We set up electric fence for different fields all the time as we'd have steers every winter to put on winter wheat pasture, over 1200 acres scattered over 20 miles and yes we moved the cattle with horses and 1 border collie. The cowboy way, good times!

Thank you so much. I really enjoyed this video. So fun to watch to equipment at work. Do you mind if I ask how tall you are? I’m 6’ 5” and want to know if I would be comfortable on the summit tractor? That’s a big concern for me when looking at tractors. Have you had any issues with it yet? If so are the parts hard to get? Thank you for the great stuff you put out.

Building and maintaining fences is one of the many full-time is the jobs farmers have. It’s a never ending career yes you work land that needs fences. They just don’t last forever they’re expensive and they take a lot of maintenance and rebuilding. Yes you’re a farmer that’s just a huge part of your job and there will always be something to do to keep your fences functional.

If I was in the market for a new sub compact tractor, I hate to say it cause I’m a long time Deere lover but, I think I would buy a Summit cause they have some nice standard features that the others don’t. And it looks like a decently made grapple and from what I could see, functions very well.

Hey Courtney: quick question: how do you move a tractor and take a couple implements? I have a 30 ft deck over but am finding it a pain to drive the tractor off with one, disconnect then drive back up and pick up the second implement. Is there an easier way? I was thinking of a swing boom arm to move implements off the trailer. How do you do it?

Drooling over the skid steer - WAY out of my price range though. Like that grapple, especially the light weight. I assume the diverter set up that comes with the grapple is for Summit tractors only. Adaptable to my Massey sub-compact? Maybe? But what really caught my eye (you're gonna laugh) are the MIRRORS you have on the Summit tractor. Magnetic mount? Where can I get THOSE!?

Looking for some advice. I am looking at some property about 15 acres which I plan to mill my own lumber to go towards building my own home. I know most of everything I will need a subcompact tractor will do the job. However, if milling my own lumber, it is unclear if a subcompact will lift logs onto the mill or will I need a compact. Any input greatly appreciated. This is mostly unclear as unknown how much green logs weigh. Let's say 24'' diameter and 14' long. Obviously hardwood weighs more and right now not sure what type of trees will exist on the property as I will not be looking for about another two months. Will a subcompact handle the job?
@kdegraa
@kdegraa 2 жыл бұрын
It’s probably best to consider buying a machine that will be most useful when building and then selling it and buying a little tractor when the building has finished and you are in the maintenance phase. To me the most useful machine when building would be an excavator however they are expensive. Maybe a compact tractor with a backhoe would be a more economical alternative. Whether a sub compact tractor will pick up what is needed it should be possible to estimate how heavy the logs will be and then look at the capabilities of the tractor and loader.
@michaelbaumgardner9493
@michaelbaumgardner9493 2 жыл бұрын
Good evening Dan. Google weighing logs. You're able to enter diameter, length and species for a weight. Tractor Data has most front end loaders lift capacities. You can do alot of jobs with a big tractor but you can't with a tractor that is too small. My papaw taught me that. But it depends on the wallet/ account/ retirement yadda yadda.

He's breaking the wood post off #1 because they are rotten and #2 with that piece of equipment you have to put the side that doesn't move aganist the post so when the side that does move doesn't push the post over toward the stationary side breaking it off. Same with the metal t post, he's bending them because he isn't putting the stationary side of the puller against the t-post so the side that moves doesn't push the post over against it bending it in the process. Leaving the gap between the stationary side instead of putting it against the posts is the problem. He probably can't even see the grabber part because that big guard is right in his face. That's just in the way of being able to use the tool correctly. I've not seen any other of these built with that thing on them. Bad design.
