This is just a quick sneak peak of my free-standing support rig. I wanted to share a little bit and this didn't take much editing. I have a lot more gameplay footage I need to edit. I'll work on another build log video too. I'll also soon start working on a build guide.

You are my hero! Keep it up and please consider to scale it for serial production. Is there any actuation over the wheels in the shoes or they are just loose. You started with a similar approach to Ekto VR and end up with something like Virtuix Omni and Kat VR. Maybe a combination of both. Congratulations! This is not just about walking in VR. You delivered a lesson about patience, persistence and how to develop an idea from the concept to the prototype.

Thanks. Yes, lots of patience and persistence. Right now I'm just going to make a build guide, not try to sell it or mass produce it. The wheels are passive (loose). I will try adding motors back in later. The carpet on the platform actually adds some friction, so the shoes feel more stable, but not so much that they're hard to move. There are also stoppers on the front and back that go into the ground when the heel/toes are lifted.

Incredible! Great work!

Will you be posting/selling build instructions and parts lists at any point or even selling the finished product itself? This is the coolest thing I've seen in a while!

Now that I have it done I'll be making a build guide and parts list soon.

Would be nice if you could add an in-game picture in the corner. Then we get some relation between your RL walking and game movement.

If no ones told you; you're building an over priced KAT VR. Sorry bro.
@finallyfunctional2 жыл бұрын
Ha. What makes you think it's overpriced? I estimate $200-$400 in parts to build it (but haven't added it all up yet, it's just me guessing). There are lots of differences between this and the Kat Walk C. A flat (not bowled) surface, crouching support, sitting support, it weighs much less, has large surface area contact with the ground to reduce noise, carpeted surface to actually increase friction instead of reduce it (and carpet reduces noise), shoes with wheels instead of sliding on a slippery surface (less friction overall), and there are more I could list.
