I should have asked earlier, but who has used some style of streaky glass and how did it go?
@brittgastreich406511 ай бұрын
Love this piece, absolutely beautiful!!! I often leave the rolled edges as they are so organic looking. People seem to love them as a nice change to very straight edges!

Yes, love the more organic look. But I sort of like it all 😁

It turned out great. And I was holding my breath when you ran the first score right along with you. I have a piece of glass here too for more years then I dare to admit that I have not been able to bring myself to cut up. Thinking I should just get a frame and hang it up on the wall. 😄

That's a great idea. It's very abstract this type of glass and will probably look great.

Love this glass on top of the white! Beetle bits does have a straight edge that is 35”. I’ve been toying with getting it. Only about $40 here in the states.
@RocketRoseArt Жыл бұрын
I actually found somewhere over here to purchase one. There's a 23" for $60 and a 35" for $67. Not in the budget at the moment 😥

I bought some streaky woody glass also. was not sure about what I want to do with it. I like your solution for the uneven edge. I have a few pieces and I think what you did was a good method.
@RocketRoseArt Жыл бұрын
I felt it looked very natural so that natural style edge seemed appropriate.

Jeff, beautiful! However, I THINK you actually might have Petrified Wood (002971) as opposed to the one you mentioned. I say that because yours has some lighter blue tones as well as slight orangey/cream and the darker colors, at least that is what it looks like on camera. Of course, I could be wrong, haha! I have purchased a lot of that and it is wonderful glass. It can strike red in some places as there is some striker in there. Again, I may be wrong but I was looking at the whole piece when you were cutting it. Anyway, your platter is gorgeous! It is funny I have many larger pieces like that where I too am waiting for the "perfect" project to use it in, lol. Well done, lovely piece!
@tahlia077 Жыл бұрын
It’s not petrified wood. P.F looks like clear with an amber swirl pre-firing as it strikes to the darker/more opaque look :)
@RocketRoseArt Жыл бұрын
Hi. It's definitely Bullseye 2209 Dark brown. Still had the sticker on it. It does have some blue tones and you'll also find the camera isn't always that great with colours. I think it looks much better live than in the video. Good luck with finding that 'perfect' project. My big problem is that when I purchased my initial lot of glass from a local it also contained some other streaky glasses that are waiting for that special project. I wish I could do a weekly video like I used to but time etc. just seems to always get in the way.

Beautiful and as others I just can’t bring myself to cut it into various projects. I use 96 and they have a similar glass that when fired looks like petrified wood.

What do you do if you don’t have a sand blaster?
@RocketRoseArt Жыл бұрын
If you have diamond pads you can use them. It takes time but does work. Of course, you could cover with clear powder and refire, but that has a problem as I mentioned.
@catheyfoss2890 Жыл бұрын
if we do not have a sand blaster, how would we fix that devit
@RocketRoseArt Жыл бұрын
Hi Cathey. Without using frit or borax maybe use diamond pads to sand it back. Wet and dry sandpaper will also work, just be sure to always use water with the pad and paper. I've also seen people use corundum grit on a flat piece of thick glass, with water, but being a large flat area that may be an issue. I've never tried it myself. Maybe someone else has another idea. Actually, I start a post in the community to see what feedback we get.

Hi Stacey. If you Google Golden Ratio you'll find it's really interesting how it is so prevalent in our lives and we don't realise it.
