6:28 that's actually the spot where the RF modulator would go, but it was never populated except for Brazilian models, which only have RF and no multi out.

At around 6:37 you removed the voltage regulator (you called it mofset), then at 6:51 you mention you don’t need the regulator/mofset anymore and bridged the pads with a wire, but then at 11:04 it shows that the regulator/mofset is soldered back onto the board again? What happened there? I'd really like to do this mod, but I’m confused.

In Brazil, Snes Jr (or know here how Snes Baby), don't have multi out, they made it with RF Port. And some technical assistance performs the appropriate adaptation service.

There's no MOSFET inside the SNES it's a 7805 lineal 5 Volt regulator that converts 12v to 5v . Anyway good modification looks great with the USB C 3d printed bracket
@Boofener

does that explain why he added it back and wired the red to it?

@@Boofener Yes, with this mod you want to wire the positive wire from the usb port to the input of the voltage regulator. You can then use a 5v or 9v USB-C PD cable.

I’m lost, does he not leave the voltage regulator out? What would be the harm in leaving it in?

Thanks for this! I was trying to verify the correct way before giving this a go. I'm wondering if it would be okay to Run a capacitor along with the voltage regulator to. I've seen it done excluding the usb c mod but never with it.

What gauge of wire do you recommend for the usb-c mod?
@XipherDesign

Id suggest 26awg or 28awg for this mod. its thick enough for the current needed in the mod.

Very cool. What does the MOSFET do/why didn’t you need it anymore?
@marioretromods2503
@marioretromods2503 2 жыл бұрын
It's not a MOSFET that is a 5v lineal regulator 7805 that converts (regulate ) 12v to 5v old consoles use that ic NES Sega Genesis ps1
@LionelSanderson
@LionelSanderson 7 ай бұрын
you mean regulate 7.5v up to (check data sheet) probably 35v to 5v, you want as low as possible because excess voltage dissipates as heat. 9v is usually used.

The 'SNES Jr' wasn't ever released in Europe or any other PAL region (not even Australia or New Zealand!) TBH. Also, you can 3D-Print your own 'region free' cart support so you can use not just USA titles but Japanese too (even the Sufami Turbo and Super Gameboy 2!) without affecting its resale value!

@@XipherDesign thank you, unfortunately the shell color is not available anymore... I'm sad at least a little bit. I ordered a fx pak pro in red because it was the only color available, which is fine and it looks good. I'm overall very happy to have this cool flash cartridge. I'm looking to make a tiny monitor just like the one you've got for your videos. Exception being I plan on incorporating an ossc and Bluetooth audio transmitter, wii sensor bar and a power bank for use on batteries. It will resemble a portable 9inch sony pvm in shape and it will be able to run on batteries and wall power. It's gonna be sick. I'll post pictures sometime of my progress when I can, thanks for inspiring me with your own cool monitor.

Because it's a stupid mod bypassing the linear regulator which provides clean power and then your console is absolutely dependant on the cleanliness of the switching supply you use. I had this problem with my GBS-C not liking most sources and destroying the output

the power in being embedded in the molded backpice is pretty common knowledge for anyone into SNES'. there's plenty of dead boards that have damaged center pieces and theres not a replacement, which explains why this video gets so much attention for being so sketchy and misinforming
