Super Castlevania IV is a 1991 platform game developed and published by Konami. Released originally for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, it has been re-released multiple times, including for the Super NES Classic Edition.
The game features expanded play control, 16-bit graphics featuring Super NES's Mode 7, and a soundtrack featuring new pieces and arrangements based on previous Castlevania music. Following the same setting as Castlevania on the NES, the game takes place in 1691 Transylvania, where the vampire hunter Simon Belmont must defeat the vampire Dracula.

This game features only 8 megs. This was practically nothing compared to the capacity of nowadays games. Still with that limited amount has a wonderful and very well composed and elaborated soundtrack. Features for the time very beautiful graphics and realistic sound. The only "but" that I would put is that is shorter and has a very relaxed level of difficulty, if you compare both with Castlevania III Dracula's Curse for example. Also is linear, unlike Dracula's Curse where you could pick different paths to get to the castle, changing the course of the story depending on your choices. Still, one of the best Castlevania games. A total masterpiece.

What a fun playthrough. I like the time spent exploring dead ends in the stages and things like the delayed vertical whip kill on the first boss. It captures the immersive side of this amazing game.

I think it's the best one. It's a classic style castlevania, challenging, but not stupidly unfair like the nes games and none of the silly rpg nonsense of the newer games.

Gotta love Castlevania games, with heroes so obssesed on fighting evil that if they dont slay a major monster before a certain amount of time they wil suffer a stroke and die, yet so polite that will also die if they dont take the stairs to a platform where they could just jump down to. :D

You and I look at it as a colossal failure, but Konami's stockholders have nothing to complain about, since Konami makes more money now than they did before they stopped developing games. Games development has a massive overhead, and high risk. Konami makes bank these days. Its sad that they don't really give a shit about the games anymore, but at the end of the day, they are a business, and making money is all that matters.

He jugado a practicamente todos los juegos de la saga, y con excepción de unos cuantos juegos que no me han gustado (la saga Lords of Shadow, Castlevania II Simon's Quest, los de Nintendo 64 y los de moviles), puedo decir que todos son excelentes títulos, bien sean en 2D o 3D. Si bien considero a SOTN como el mayor exponente y el epítome de la evolución de la franquicia, hay algo unico y muy diferente en Super Castlevania IV, algo que no tiene ningun otro juego de la franquicia, no solo su banda sonora es unica y tiene un feeling muy distinto al de los otros juegos (con el debido respeto de la excelentisima Michiru Yamane), sino que tambien su ambientación se siente mas rustica, tanto el apartado artistico como la construcción de niveles se siente de mucha antiguedad, visualmente es como mas arenoso, falto de detalles artísticos que muestren una evolución arquitectónica humana, de hecho, la recreacion estetica del castillo es muy absorbente y desorganizada, no hay indicios de modernidad, denota una ambientación de poca tecnologia, y en conjunto con su paleta de colores mas sobria, son un plus de distinción que le sienta de maravilla. No me malintrrpreten, no me refiero a que sea un juego limitado por la tecnología de la SNES porque no es eso, no hablo de calidad grafica, me refiero es a la construcción artística de niveles en general (de hecho, Dracula X de SNES si bien es una adaptación de Rondo of Blood, si se siente artistica y tecnologicamente mucho mas moderno que Super Castlevania IV, denota una epoca de mas evolución humana en el universo de la franquicia). Me hubiese gustado ver este tipo de arte rustico y primitivo en Lament of Innocence al ser el primer juego de la franquicia, infortunadamente creo que se ve incluso mas evoluciionado y no deberia ser asi (de nuevo, me refiero al estilo de arquitectura, vestimentas, tecnologia, etc, no me refiero a la evolucion grafica). Tanto Super Castlevania IV como Circle of the Moon son los dos únicos juegos de la franquicia que se sienten con un aura muy distinta, tienen un misticismo especial, hay algo en ellos que no puedo explicar bien con palabras pero siempre me atrapan a pesar de ser tan diferentes tambien entre si. A decir verdad, me gustaria algun dia ver otro juego de Castlevania cuya ambientacion y musica se sienta mas rústica y antigua, que parezca como una recreación de cine de terror de serie B de los años 70's y 80's, justo como Super Castlevania IV lo consigue.

I never found this game to be particularly better than the nes ones, missing where the multiple paths, multiple characters from castlevania III as well as any rpg elements from castlevania 2 so how was the game better? graphics and sound i guess but aside from that i found it inferior, good game but not the best in the series for me.
