While the SNES Adventures of Batman and Robin has orchestral music right out of the cartoon, the Genesis version has extremely repetitive techno. I'm not saying a Batman game has to have music similar to the cartoon, but it just plain sucks. Both the NES and Genesis Batman games based on the Tim Burton movie as well as Batman: Return of the Joker for the NES sound a thousand times better. Anytime I hear a Sega fanboy gushing about the crummy audio on the Genesis or how great a techno track is, they're always from Europe. Most of the Sega fanboys I've talked to in the US will at least concede that audio generally wasn't the Genesis' strong suit and part of that is because they can appreciate more styles of music than just Euro-club techno.

I might be the only person in the world that absolutely loves Batman Forever (on the Genesis at least). On the SNES the controls make zero sense, but on the Genesis with its very limited number of buttons, it actually felt like it needed some combinations to fit all the possible abilities and gadgets and figuring out and mastering the usage of those things was part of the fun and felt like progress. The game was very dark, yes, and that, coupled with some foreground obstructions to the view and the dark/misterious soundtrack created one of my favourite atmospheres ever. Don't get me wrong, I understand why people hate it so much, but I would say that if you truly get into it with an open mind, instead of getting ready to complain about the things that "should be like this instead of that", you might understand what I'm talking about. It's a very unique game somehow that I think was misunderstood globally. If you jump into it expecting a fast-paced beat-em up, you're going to be disappointed, yes.

The comment about the AoBaR soundtrack on the Genesis/MD probably has something to do with not just the music not matching what the show or SNES version had (which matches the show), but that he probably played it on an emulator or even a later model Genesis. Virtually all Genesis emulators do not get the sound right compared to an actual Genesis (look it up if you don't believe me) and it makes the sounds way harsher and more higher frequency that a lot of people don't respond that well to. Also, the Genesis had later revisions that had fairly horrible sound chips. So even if he (or you) played on real hardware, the game might sound muffled or kind of crappy.

It's far from perfect, but as long is it's fun it's enough for me. Also, in the 3 versions of the game (SNES, Genesis, MS-DOS), all 3 have different sprites of Robin. Just to add something; the only game that's mostly the same on both Genesis and Super Nintendo is Batman Forever. Returns and AoB&R are quite different (same with JL Task Force, if it counts for having Batman as a playable character), and also Genesis had Return of the Joker officially released, while the SNES version got unreleased (a prototype of it and reproduction of that proto are avaliable nowadays).

The Adventures of Batman and Robin was great, but... ugh... it could have used a few gameplay tweaks here and there. The biggest one is Batman doesn't run fast enough. If he ran 1.5 times faster, some levels would have been more manageable, especially for Catwoman's and Riddler's stages. In the Asylum stage, they could have used new bosses like Mr. Freeze and Killer Croc, alongside Clayface and Man-Bat. Finally, if there was a way to refill your items, that would have been much appreciated. Seriously, the Batarangs and Bombs were only useful against bosses.

I’m sure someone else explained this, but the reason why Robin looks weird is because this game was being made a bit before and during the production of the movie, and the video game creators didn’t have access to that Robin costume from the movie. So to get the game out in time, they just made a kind of Robin costume and ran with it.

The Genesis Batman and Robin was like a mid 90's techno rave sorta deal. I liked it, but it comes out of left field and out of place for Batman. Haven't played the Batman and Robin for the SNES but Forever is awful. Returns on NES, Genesis & SNES are all good IMO.

Batman and Robin for Genesis music is terrible?! Not even bad but TERRIBLE? Hell no. It's amazing. I had eargasms with it. It matches the fast-paced game which makes it great.

Please review the godzilla kaiju dakaizzen (I forgot how to spell the last part of the title) this is a far superior game for godzilla on the snes. Kicks super Godzillas ass. Think kinda like mortal kombat but with godzilla. Also don't forget about godzilla domination for GBA!! Both are great so get on it please!! They both are very deserving of reviews on your channel imo.

I love the Adventures of Batman & Robin on SNES, but man was I disappointed that you couldn't play as Robin. I was a huge fan of the 90s Robin comics.

Batman Forever for the SNES was ridiculously hard to grasp for me as a child. I remember spending a couple of days to figure out some movements (I didn't have manual or anything like that hahahahhaa). But after that, I kind of like the game, but of course, there are better Batman games.

Maybe you are full-ass drunked when playing the Sega Genesis batman. I'm a SNES fanboy but can't denied the Genesis Batman soundtrack is freaking god send.

Yea it sucks how expensive these games are. If only there was some other way to get them. For free maybe... I definitely dont have every game I've ever even remotely wanted to play n64 and below on my phone... not like I can bluetooth a controller and sync it to my television making my phone a mobile snes nes genesis gba gbc n64 ps1 psp with all the games for free.... Wouldnt that be a cool reality to live in...

I’m a big fan of your show and your content is usually spot on.... 🧐 however Batman and Robin on the Genesis has one of the best soundtracks of the 16 bit era! I get that taste plays a big part especially for music but to say that it plan sucks is ridiculous.

I will say batman forever is ok but it's soundtrack is great. But definitely batman returns and batman and Robin on SNES is amazing.
@michaelphelps3114 жыл бұрын
Oh and the only reason why I even have Batman Forever was so I can just add it to my library and it was only 2 bucks...i still may have over paid. 😆 But 2 bucks still isn't too bad.

1:43 I wonder if this was the one where before you start the game. You would hear joker say, "If the bat wants to play, we'll play."

Right after 0:48 snesdrunk says "a'swell" just like the guys from skeleton realm lol (I'm sure he did it first lol those guys seem young and this is an almost decade old video 😂)

I played all these batman games except for genesis version. Out all of three Batman returns is a good beat-emup.

The only reason I can think of The Adventures of Batman and Robin on the Genesis having a terrible soundtrack is if you have a model 2 Genesis or even a bad model 1 board. Yeah, Sega really fucked up when it came to keeping their sound hardware on the Genesis consistent. Also, bad emulation also hurts soundtracks like that as well.
@retrosoul87706 жыл бұрын
Exactly, I mean how pathetic is that? Releasing a version of your own machine with inferior hardware that will hinder the experience? Sega were the kings of shooting yourself in the foot.
@zanegandini53506 жыл бұрын
For sure. Nintendo did the opposite with their original SNES, by going from the blurry video of the 2-chip board to the clear output of the 1-chip. The SNES Jr. did use composite only, but to be fair that was a streamlined version that I assume was more of a budget console back in the day, so that's to be expected.
@retrosoul87706 жыл бұрын
I didn't know that, smart decision but honestly Nintendo has made stupid hardware decisions too w/Snes, like lowering it's processing power/ability for the sake of allowing Nes backward compatibility which they didn't even implement and left the system gimped for no reason, giving the 2 year old Genesis important advantages that it never should have had (it's like the Gamecube being slower than the Dreamcast LOL). So it goes both ways but Sega definitely made more ill choices overall.
@zanegandini53506 жыл бұрын
Yeah, funny thing is that the Genesis was more powerful and actually did have backwards compatibility implemented, meaning there was even less reason for the SNES to be left so weak. Honestly, though, as much as the sound quality never stayed consistent on the Genesis, it was an engineering marvel in many ways. The SNES needed extra chips in the cartridges just to keep up, and the PC Engine needed a whole CD add-on to match the performance as well. The Genesis delivered the most powerful experience at the time, and at the most affordable price as well.
@vasilas4323 жыл бұрын
@@zanegandini5350 I agree with you. Genesis is the most powerful of the 3. Only downside is the 64 colours, but even then, most games make super efficient smart colour use and they look colourful and fantastic. Panorama Cotton is an example.

Adventures of Batman & Robin is based off of the show of the same name, not Batman the Animated Series. Hence the title’s mention of the boy wonder.
