I really appreciate the effort you put on showing us the palette and how you thin your paints, specially working with scale75, which are a bit harder for me. I know the tutorial was focused on the mask, but I like the weapon a lot, the blade with the square pattern looks super good, and the contrast between the black flat part of the sword, and the edge itself. Thanks for the video, as always, packed with a lot of useful information.

Thanks Sergio, glad you enjoyed it. There's already a video of the blade on my patreon feed if you're interested. Cheers!

Some of the most useful painting tutorials on youtube. I took a pretty long break from painting but every time I see your videos I pick up the brush again :).
@KujoPainting4 жыл бұрын
I took a huge break from painting as well, then some random youtube videos got me back into it, so it looks like I've gone full circle. Now I'm the guy that makes the random youtube videos that gets people back into painting again. I'm OK with that! :)

That looks great, the skin is also fantastic. I was cracking up at the LAN comment, his stuff is next level. I’ve had the joy of doing a weekend class with him which was both enlightening and disheartening - how easy he makes it look. A couple of tricks from his arsenal that could be applied to the mask/helmet - a glaze of colour to give the impression of a reflection in the surface, perhaps of the ears. The very centre of the hot spot not just being your highest value, but also a satin colour - so work with matte paints then take advantage of that extra pop from the satin, uses it for catch lights in eyes too.
@KujoPainting4 жыл бұрын
Good tips, I am going to add some reflections in later. But I like to wait til the rest is finished before doing that so I know what colours are where.

That is very good, will try it once I get back into the hobby. One question though, why didn't you paint the reflection on the side cylinders (you know, the not as bright highlight on the lower parts)?
@KujoPainting4 жыл бұрын
I haven't decided whether to add reflection highlights from the surroundings yet. Sometimes I leave them til the end so I can be sure about what colours are where because everything's subject to change.
@alexandermazur89354 жыл бұрын
@@KujoPainting Ok. yeah. sounds legit. It's just the majority of painters just do them with the same mix but waaaay darker (so, like the third highlight color tops in your case). But I see you wanna get fancy :)
@snowy56284 жыл бұрын
Kujo, what colours did you use on that skin? It’s just such nice colour composition! Lovely work!

It looks great. I'm more curious about the arm that isn't attached. How does painting THEN assembling affect your process? Wouldn't there be gaps?
@KujoPainting4 жыл бұрын
The fit of the arm is really good. There's a leather strap at the join and no real gap as such. But if there's a bit here and there after gluing I can just run a bit of pva glue into it and paint over it. I don't paint the arm to completion before attaching, just the areas I can't reach, that way it's not so critical if I mess up the attachment.

Hi Peter, check out my video on NMM highlight placements, that'll help a lot. Try and work out the basic shape of the shoulder pads and you'll be able to apply a highlight that makes sense.

I'm sorry Kujo, but I did not consent to you using my likeness at 5:27.
This comment is not for children. I’m always confused about how long something takes to dry, like people always mention it - but never say a time - I know this can be a bit of a length of a piece of string question; but I was wondering what you’d say an estimated amount of time the glaze you use in this video took to dry before you paint over the same spot again.
