A little trivia about ttrpgs of the time: Several of the non DnD 2nd ed games at the time would use something like these CYOA set ups to do an intro to their game mechanics. A good example is WEG (west end games) Star Wars. They have a mini adventure right after how they explain how to make a character, and run the example character through a mini adventure to teach game mechanics. God I'm old.

Astartes have squires/thrills for moments when they need to get out or into armour... However, fron what I remember, their armour can deal with urine and faecal mater quite efficiently, so why do they even bother with removing it?

Honestly I think the macrovirus thing was a way of making it slightly more kid-friendly. It's otherwise described as a "genocidal virus" and though that concept got fleshed out elsewhere in 40k it might have been considered too dark for a choose-your-own-adventure...

Not gonna lie... this CYOA sucks ass. Seriously, why would an Inquisitor be opposed to taking MORE prisoners for Interrogation? I mean, a sizeable Ork ship on a hive-world! That is outragous! That's what heads would be rolling for! Like seriously, how did that ship get past the planetary defenses? That knowledge alone would be valuable! Then again... a lot of this CYOA was... sub-par.
