The piracy off the coast of Somalia wouldnt have develloped in the first place, if reckless foreign powers hadn't taken advantage of the Somali government breaking down, leaving the coasts unguarded. Illegal fishing trawlers from Europe and Asia fished the waters empty and dumped toxic waste while they were at it, robbing the local fishermen of their means to sustain themselves. In their desperation, they boarded the foreign ships ( who had no right to be there anyway ) when they were suddenly offered money if they gave back the captured vessels. So, basically, the whole situation was created by the capitalistic greed of our democratic countries. Just mentioning, before you fall back into the self-serving "we are the good ones and the somali pirates where evil to the bone" narrative.

Its really amazing to think the best snipers the US has to offer are able to make this hard shot at sea simultaneously to kill 3 enemy combatants at once. That really is surgical precision under the most complicated conditions imaginable. Just to note only 34% of hostage rescues are successful and I have never heard of a situation like this ever occurring in real life and I would be interested to know if the SEALs ever trained for something like this during the War on Terror.

According to a quick google search, U.S.S. Bainbridge was just 25 meters away from the lifeboat when the pirates were killed. For a skilled sniper with an accurate rifle, that's not a difficult shot. I will concede that the rolling pitch of the seas complicate matters somewhat, but the world record for a confirmed sniper kill is nearly 4,000 meters away. Seal Team 6 is the *real deal*.

@@AaronMichaelLong Looking through a scope, while on a boat, with the rolling pitch of the sea, would be like being on a roller coaster, the target would come into view for a fraction of a second and then be gone. One shot like this would be incredible, the fact that 3 guys made the shot simultaneously is next level excellence.

@@patmcbride9853 ignorant answer. dangerous answer. humans in desperate conditions will violate norms and laws, thats a reality. A man will steal a loaf of a bread to feed his children, as it were. Equally, those seeking to maximize their own power and influence will take advantage of that desperation. That is also the reality of our species. Without desperate conditions, the results do not exist. With desperate conditions, they will. 8:18 I saw this in the theater with my father opening day, his father my grandfather was a sailor in WWII and there was a SEAL from the 80’s in the theater and when they said “stop the tow” I believe on pure instinct he said “execute” he didn’t yell it just said it as loud as he might have in the same situation. He said he hadn’t seen it already (in a nose bag so I asked after the movie haha) and I’m inclined to believe him being opening day. It was rad. I’m in my 40’s and still get goosebumps.
