Tactical Rifleman

Күн бұрын

So, you have an accurate rifle? Try this drill to see just how accurate YOU are.
I can teach a monkey to shoot targets at 500 meters. As a matter of fact, I HAVE taught monkeys how to shoot accurately. That said, anyone can shoot stationary targets from a prone stable firing position.
We call the “Tactical Rifleman,” because we don’t just focus on target shooting . Rather, we focus on all the skills that today’s operators need to be successful on the modern battlefield. For precision rifle shooting, that means getting out of your comfort zone and shooting from expedient firing positions, under various conditions, and a variety of targets and distances.
So, this video I want to talk about & demonstrate (video, duh) a great drill I’ve put together for making snipers perfect their shooting skills from various heights. Why?
Hunting in the “Global War On Terror” I often found myself and my fellow sniper team shooting from urban hide sites, with shooting loopholes at various heights. We would have to use whatever materials were available, furniture and tables, to build shooting platforms and positions. Well, we hadn’t really practiced this that much back in the states.
The drill is to:
Confirm Zero (Prone)
Confirm Suppressor Zero-Shift (if you run a suppressor)
Shoot Grouping drills from 12 to 72 inches above the ground, in 6” increments.
Record & compare data, to see where and at what heights you need to focus future training.
Now, I’m not saying to do this every time you go out to the range. Hell, I like banging steel plates at 1200 meters as much as the next guy. However, if you get bumped off that UKD Range by another unit and all you have is a 200 or 300 meter range; this is the perfect time to work on grouping drills.
If you are one of those SWAT Snipers that only shoots out to 120 meters (legal issues); then, this would be my NUMBER ONE training drill. You can do this at 100 meters all day long.
I want to give a shout out to Kevin “Coach” Jimmerson, for being my demonstrator. That 6.5mm was a real tack driver. He was shooting .3 MOA groups all day long. I’m a big believer in always trying to learn as much as you can constantly, and I have learned a lot about shooting from Coach over the last few years.
Thanks for watching. Strength & Honor, TR.

Ain't it so. keeping all over tensioned pressures off that weapon & trigger contact? Blood pressures from being wadded up in different, unrelaxed positions, can reek havoc thru amplified heart beats & breathing patterns, thus the strays & group placements. Happens a lot in my backyard with a Baikal IZH-46M. Keep tellin' myself... gotta float that fuckin round into that perspective intent. The less i was of who i was with the weapon... the better it shot & i shot. i may have chosen the accuracy of the weapon. But i must allow it's accuracy to choose me! Another former paratrooper once stated... ''Music doesn't lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music.''-Jimi Hendrix Thank's TR for keepin' all the former & active choir members equipped with the truth of how to maintain that 'music of the muzzle change' named ''De Oppresso Liber'' with it's tried and true orchestras against all enemies both Foriegn & Domestic! -former sgt. I use an EXPS 3-2. Using some chest rig or plate carrier so it feels too heavy if I use the 5-th position, but accuracy is the best. retracting to 3-d position it`s comfortable but accuracy a bit lower. Any advice? Thank You!

Depends on your mission... If you need better accuracy, bump it out to the 5th position. Otherwise, keep it at 3, so you are more comfortable. TR

Andrew M Some people observe that the longer the stock, the more leverage they have and that translates to greater stability. I personally adjust the stock so that my eye relief and length of pull remains consistant, but I usually use a Browe optic so those considerations are important

Karl, its called a silencer.

Yep... and it's called a Suppressor too. It's also called a "Can." I have primarily used one on combat ops to "suppress" the muzzle flash, when shooting from urban hid sites. It's also good for reducing felt recoil and reducing the noise. So, the term "reducer" could also be used. Maxim called it a silencer when he first applied for the patent. So, you are correct there. I really don't care what you call it. Thanks for watching. TR.

Calling it a "Can" is colloquial and I respect that if you called it that. I think as in the instructional video and a Tier 1 operator calling it a suppressor is not veey coou! We call AR-15 AR'S not assault rifles even though 90% of the people say assault rifles.

Why do the inches change pre 5 grouping or more? ( various/variation of shots, trajectory if you are still in the same spot and target is not moving?????). How many m's/yards is it. And if that doesn't change why the vast adjustments in alignment. If it's a thing I get it but doesn't make sense. NOT to mention I personally wouldn't want a sleeping bag help. I just want personal body alignment...body pos.
