My wife likes Tom Berenger so I thought I’d check out this preview. It did not start off well for me when I see that the spotter - usually the most experienced shooter - is doing range estimates with a Kestrel weather meter. Even my high end Kestrel - used for wind and weather - does not do range estimates. Crappy start.

Brit here. What ruined it for me was a supposed ex-RGJ infanteer stood on the crest of a hill taking a piss. Why is it that in almost every single film, the British military is depicted as being completely incompetent? I'm ex signals (so an expert in all aspects of combat potatoe peeling) and if I'd done what he did while on an exercise in Germany, I'd still be doing press-up today.

I’m not sure what you mean by that. You can’t just attach a machine gun belt to an AK. AKs are specifically mag fed. Now if you’re talking about a sling, yeah. You can put a sling on an AK. But she was talking about the ammunition feeding method. Specific weapons are built to feed ammunition via a belt. A belt isn’t something you can just attach to any weapon and use.

The weapon mounted on the truck at 3:25 looks to be a DShK. 12.7mm belt fed machine gun. A 12.7mm OD projectile would not go through a 7.62mm ID barrel without turning it into spaghetti. What she calls an AK is only related to an AK in the fact that it’s a Russian weapon.

Lol that's my exact impression of how sturdy and reliable normal corps. snipers are. For me in this film it's one of the realism scenes. In their defense though those models also have a ranging laser. Similar models I've used to those shown all had ranging lasers and other tools packed on.

We would say "Send it" the shooter might respond "On the way" or just shoot when ready. "Fire" means immeadiately, But the shooter had to get the right hold in breathing, minute adjustments in aim, slow steady squeeze. At distance it would take a second or two, or three. I mean, we were shooting 7.62 out to 1000 yards +. You can't rush.

That's all I do when I shoot my pellet guns is shoot thru scopes. Of course there the high power pellet guns that shoot 998fps with 7.9 grain or my 22 which is 850fps with 14.3 grain. But when me and my dad shoot together me and him shoot scoped 22 long rifle, or I'll shoot his mosin nagant with open sites which I'm extremely accurate with. 7.62x54r can lay a smack down on something lol.
