Personally while there are a lot of good ones, Insurgency, Rising Storm Vietnam, Red Orchestra, Verdun and let’s not forgot Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019, I personally think Escape From Tarkov does the Sniper scope best as it it super realistic, and doesn’t try to be friendly to the user with the scope not being fully clear while rechambering the bolt, as well it doesn’t place the scope so close to the screen which I also think is great... Also as a side note I’m not sure if I’m 100% accurate saying this, but I believe Red Orchestra was the first game to have double vision while aiming down sights, so it’ll just be the scope that zoomed in not the entirety of the screen like a lot of games do mainly due to processing power... Lastly am I the only one that played about 90 of these games listed here? Haha

Escape from Tarkov closest to reality - increased tunnel effect respect other games (tunnel effect is most visible in small diameter scopes, like PU mosin/svt scope).

Escape from Tarkov nails it, especially the tunnel vision effect and DOF which is appropriate for viewing through scopes. Edit: even Battlefield 2042 has some tunnel vision effect when the optic moves around. Very noticeable in low zoom optics.

basics for a good scope - the reticle moves independently from the scope housing, the housing moves independently from the camera - some eye relief effect when moving but don't over-do it - proper feedback when shooting (zoom, shake, blur, eye relief or whatever); again, kick for the reticle, the housing and the camera should be different. - smooth aiming animation. Raising the gun can be quick but animate how the shooter has to find the reticle. 5:11 modern titel with good graphics but absolutely embarassing scopes because it ignored all the points (2019 division 2 is the same)

The reason most game’s don’t do it like Tarkov is because it reduces performance like fuck rendering a whole new image inside of the scope hiding parts of the scope along the way, Modern Warfare has it real nice while keeping the gameplay good and not reducing performance but ofc I guess Tarkov is the most realistic Also i love how ZULA has literally ripped gun audio from BF4
